At Verdura, motor cars are banned within the resort; at Terme di Saturnia the turf is tended with spring water; in the Passeier Valley the first tee sits beneath the windows. Twelve Italian hotels where the golf bag never sees the boot of a car.
In listings, “hotel with a golf course” can mean three very different things: a course that belongs to the property, a neighbouring club run by another company, or a course ten minutes away by car with a partnership deal. Only the first two count here, plus one private-club case, because they are the only ones that let you step out of your room and reach the tee without taking the car: the course lies within the resort, adjoins the hotel or can be reached on foot. The order is geographical, from south to north, and prices change every season, so it is always worth reconfirming them.

Sicily, Sardinia and Elba: golf with a sea view
At Verdura the courses all bear the signature of Kyle Phillips: the East Links, the West Shore and a nine-hole executive course, 45 holes in all. The European Tour staged the Rocco Forte Sicilian Open here, won in 2018 by Joakim Lagergren. One piece of information not to miss: as of 3 October 2026 the East Links is open without restrictions, the West Shore is open but, because of the introduction of Bermuda grass, some areas may not be at their best until spring 2027, while the Executive course stays closed until the same date. The Golf Inclusive offer covers two green fees per room per night on the Links or the Shore.
Il Picciolo, at the foot of Etna, offers the opposite character: 18 holes, par 72, 5,870 metres, designed by Luigi Rota Caremoli in 1989, with lava as a hazard. According to the 2026 price list, hotel guests pay €90 for an 18-hole green fee instead of €110, with the practice range included. To play you need a Federazione Italiana Golf card with a handicap, or a green card.
In Sardinia, Due Lune Puntaldia has the course inside the resort, but it is a technical nine-hole layout, dominated by par 3s, with the 6th hole perched above the rocks. In the 2026 price list the club season runs from 1 April to 10 November, and anyone looking for 18 holes should head towards Pevero. To the south, Is Molas Resort has the course within the resort, the Circolo Golf Is Molas: 27 holes with a championship layout opened in 1975 that has hosted four Italian Opens; the weekday 18-hole green fee in 2026 ranges from €80 to €135, depending on the season.
At the Hermitage, on the island of Elba, the course is short but genuine: nine holes, eight par 3s and one par 4, over 1,275 metres, approved by CONI. The club is open from April to October, and the practice range has a small lake with floating balls.
Tuscany: the Maremma, Argentario and a private club
The Terme di Saturnia course is an 18-hole, par 72 layout of 6,316 metres designed by Ronald Fream, with GEO environmental certification since 2014. The Golf Inclusive offer requires at least two nights and includes one 18-hole green fee per day for each player, with a 50% discount for the second guest.
Above the Orbetello lagoon, the Argentario Golf Club has 18 holes, par 71, opened in 2006, and was the setting for the 82nd Italian Open in June 2025. The 2026 green fee starts at €120 in low season and rises to €170 from June to September; every hotel booking includes access to the practice range.
Castiglion del Bosco is a case apart: the club is private and, according to the club itself, the only private golf club in Italy. Hotel guests have access to the 18 holes designed by Tom Weiskopf, provided they book a tee time in advance. After the eighteenth you can play the “Brunello Hole”, a short par 3 in match play.
Apulia, Liguria and Lake Garda: same ownership, on foot, adjoining
The Masseria San Domenico, reserved for guests aged 14 and over, belongs to the same ownership as San Domenico Golf: 18 holes, par 72, over 6,300 metres, with sea views from every hole. In 2026 hotel guests pay from €65 to €105, against €95–150 for the public; an EGA handicap of up to 36 is required.
In Garlenda, in Liguria, La Meridiana is a walk from the Golf Club Garlenda, par 72, 6,085 metres, founded in 1964. According to the published price list, which gives no year, guests pay €60 on weekdays and €80 at weekends.
On Lake Garda, the QC Grand Hotel Villa Arzaga adjoins Arzaga Golf, 27 holes signed by Jack Nicklaus II and Gary Player, run by a company different from the hotel's. In 2026 18 holes cost €110 on weekdays and €130 at weekends in high season (from 16 March to 8 November), and €65 and €80 in winter.
South Tyrol: the tee beneath the windows
In the Passeier Valley, Andreus Golf & Spa Resort and the adults-only Golf Lodge both stand directly on the course of Passeier.Meran: 18 holes, par 71, 5,791 metres, playable from March to December thanks to the mild climate of the Merano area. The practice range has two tiers and 20 bays, and for rainy days the Golf Lodge has the Boom Boom Room with putting green, bunker and simulator.
Five questions to ask before booking
- Is the green fee included? At Verdura and Saturnia the golf offers include the rounds; at Argentario the practice range is included in the booking, but the green fee is paid separately.
- Is a handicap required? Almost always: a federation card at Il Picciolo, an EGA handicap of up to 36 at San Domenico.
- What condition is the course in? Verdura proves the point: always ask whether any works are under way.
- When does the club open? Puntaldia plays from April to November, the Hermitage from April to October, Argentario all year round.
- Does the hotel own the course? At Arzaga and San Domenico it does not, or not entirely: management is separate and the terms depend on the club.
