Golf at Verdura Resort: 45 holes by Kyle Phillips

All three courses carry Kyle Phillips' signature. East Links is a par 73 of 6,763 metres, renovated under Phillips' own supervision; West Shore is a par 70 of 6,547 metres; the Executive is a nine-hole par-3 course. The European Tour came here for the Rocco Forte Sicilian Open, won in 2018 by Joakim Lagergren. The clubhouse stands beside the Torre, a 16th-century watchtower.

Course status on 3 October 2026. East Links is open without restrictions. West Shore is open while Bermuda grass is being introduced, so some areas may play below their usual standard until spring 2027. The Executive course is closed for the same work until spring 2027.

Tee times are booked online. The Golf Inclusive Offer includes two green fees per room per night on the Links or Shore course, use of the range and a 30-minute Trackman lesson. The academy has two PGA professionals and a junior programme for ages 6 to 16. The Performance Centre, which Rocco Forte presents as the only European Tour-approved one in Italy, has two studios with Trackman, SAM PuttLab and club fitting. The double-ended range has new covered bays, and range balls are free for guests.

Verdura Resort: from The Leopard to the sea-view suites

Verdura opened in 2009, with interiors by Olga Polizzi; in 2026 the sea-facing suites were redesigned. There are 203 rooms, including 15 junior suites and 35 suites, plus 20 private villas with three or four bedrooms.

The name comes from the Verdura family, who once owned the land, and from the river that crosses the estate. The last Duke was a cousin of Giuseppe Tomasi di Lampedusa, which is why every room has a copy of Il Gattopardo (The Leopard).

Restaurants, spa and Verdùland at Verdura

The best known is Nagori, Fulvio Pierangelini's Japanese-Sicilian kitchen inside the old Saracen tower, open for dinner from June to October. The others run from Zagara, facing the sea, to Amare for seafood and Liolà, a trattoria and pizzeria.

The Irene Forte Spa covers 4,000 m², with four outdoor thalassotherapy pools filled with seawater and treatments built on plants from the resort's organic farm. For children there is Verdùland, open in high season, which The Times named Europe's best kids' club in 2023.

Did you know? Verdura Resort

  • Links without houses. According to the resort, Kyle Phillips' courses have no buildings along the holes, only orange and olive groves, and the estate runs along nearly two kilometres of private shoreline.
  • Praise from a winner. Joakim Lagergren, 2018 Sicilian Open champion, said the sea is in view "on nearly every hole" and called these "probably the best fairways that we have played all year".
  • A name that tastes of late summer. Nagori is a Japanese word for the end of a fruit's or vegetable's season, and the nostalgia it leaves behind.
  • A bar named after a wind. Scirocco Bar takes its name from the wind that blows from North Africa to Sicily, and its cocktails use botanicals grown on the estate.
  • Lessons from Caltabellotta. The spa says it draws on the longevity wisdom of the "blue zone" of Caltabellotta, the hill town nearby.
