Golf at Argentario: the 2025 Italian Open course
The course opened in 2006 and turns twenty this year. Architect David Mezzacane designed it with tour professional Baldovino Dassù and specialist Brian Jorgensen: 18 holes, par 71, with generous fairways running through olive groves, cork oaks and ponds, looking out over the Orbetello lagoon and the bay of Talamone. The resort says that in its opening year it became the first course in Italy certified by BioAgriCert for maintenance with natural products only.
Since 2019 it has been the only Italian course licensed as a PGA National. From 26 to 29 June 2025 it staged the 82nd Italian Open on the DP World Tour, won by France's Adrien Saddier on 266 (-14), two clear of compatriot Martin Couvra. It was also the first Italian Open certified to ISO 20121, the standard for sustainable event management.
In 2026 an 18-hole green fee runs from €120 in low season to €170 between June and September. Every room booking includes use of the practice range. The Argentario Golf Academy works with a TrackMan simulator and the Capto putting-analysis system, is an official fitting centre for both, and runs clinics and junior golf camps.

The hotel: 73 rooms above the Orbetello lagoon
The resort opened in 2008, 4 km from Porto Ercole and 2.5 km from Orbetello. The building is shaped like a dragonfly, with interiors by Milan designer Andrea Fogli. All 73 rooms and suites have a private terrace over the course, with the lagoon and the sea beyond; there are seven suites, no two alike, and the resort's villas come with gardens or terraces with hot tubs.
From June to September a shuttle runs to the beach, about 10 minutes away. Children have an indoor play area, an outdoor playground, their own pool and, in high season, a Mini Club. Pets of any size are accepted in selected rooms.
Dining and spa at Argentario Golf & Wellness Resort
The kitchens are run by executive chef Emiliano Lombardelli, who was born on the Argentario. The fine-dining room is Dama Dama, listed in the Gambero Rosso Ristoranti d'Italia 2026 guide and open for dinner from Tuesday to Sunday. The Club House serves Tuscan classics at lunch and dinner, from tortelli with ragù to Florentine steak. Some of the vegetables, herbs, honey and olive oil come from the estate's own organic garden.
The Espace Wellness Center covers 2,700 m²: a heated indoor saltwater pool, two outdoor pools, a Turkish bath, a Technogym gym and a MediSpa for nutrition and naturopathy programmes. Treatments use lavender grown on the estate and organic Maremma olive oil. Outside there are tennis and padel courts, two jogging trails and a helipad.
