At Terme di Saturnia, three bays of the driving range are heated in winter, and the grass is tended with spring water. It is one of the few luxury addresses where golf from November to March is not a second choice.
Italian golf has a low season that depends more on geography than on the calendar: in the Alps it stops, by the sea and in Maremma it carries on. The problem for anyone seeking a five-star stay is a different one: many hotels close just when the course is at its quietest. Here are the addresses that combine a course you can play in winter with a hotel that works through the cold months, with winter rates or openings over the festive season.
Eight luxury hotels for winter golf
Almost no hotel publishes a full opening calendar: before booking between January and March, always confirm the opening date with the property.

Maremma: Saturnia and Argentario
Terme di Saturnia is the address most consistent with the idea of winter golf. The resort describes the Ronald Fream course, 18 holes, par 72, 6,316 metres, as a course to play all year round thanks to the Maremma climate, and the driving range has 43 bays, three of them heated in the cold months. The spring rises at 37.5 °C: after a round in January, the bath is already at home. The Golf Inclusive offer requires at least two nights and includes breakfast, one 18-hole green fee per day for each player and a 50% discount for the second player. The resort does not publish a closing calendar.
At Argentario, the resort course (18 holes, par 71, the venue of the 2025 Italian Open) is stated to be playable all year. The 2026 rates for 18 holes show how the season changes: 120 euros in low season, 160 in April, May and October, 170 from June to September; the lowest prices run from mid-January to March and in November. Here too the hotel does not publish its opening dates.
Sicily: Verdura and Il Picciolo
At Verdura, the resort states that this winter the club house and all golf services remain open. The state of the courses as of 3 October 2026 should be read carefully, though: the East Links is open without restrictions, the West Shore is open but with Bermuda grass being introduced, so until spring 2027 some areas may not be at their best, and the nine-hole Executive is closed until the same date. The course is therefore a good winter choice for those who want the Links, less so for those looking for all 45 holes. The hotel does not publish its opening dates, and some services are seasonal: the Nagori restaurant, for example, serves dinner from June to October.
At Il Picciolo, at the foot of Etna, the club publishes hours for the whole year: 8 am to 5 pm in winter, 8 am to 7 pm in summer. The Golf Escape package, however, is on sale from 28 March to 9 November: in winter the green fee is paid separately, and for hotel guests it is 90 euros instead of 110.
Rimini: the hotel that never closes
The Grand Hotel Rimini, opened in 1908, presents itself as "5 stars all year round" and also publishes a New Year's Eve offer. Its golf package includes at least two nights and two green fees per person at the Rimini Verucchio Golf Club, 18 holes, par 72, in the Valmarecchia, with tee times booked for you. The club does not indicate any closing months: for a round in the depths of winter, it is best to call the club.
Lake Garda and Lake Como: through the festive season
The Quellenhof Lazise sells packages from 28 January to 10 January of the following year: so it works over Christmas and New Year; the hotel does not publish a closing calendar, and it is advisable to ask about the dates at the end of January. The adults-only sky pool is heated all year, between 30 and 34 °C. The nearest course, Paradiso del Garda in Peschiera, is about a quarter of an hour away and, according to the club, is open twelve months a year.
Villa d'Este plays the festive card: the Montorfano club is open from March to December, except on Tuesdays, the Greenhouse restaurant opens from November to January and the Christmas programme runs from 1 December 2026 to 7 January 2027. The winter closure, which falls after the holidays, is not published.
South Tyrol: indoor golf
In the Passiria Valley, the season at Passeier.Meran runs from March to December. The Golf Lodge, an adults-only hotel on the course, answers with the Boom Boom Room: putting green, bunker and indoor simulator, billed as "365 days of golf in South Tyrol". It is not an 18-hole course, but it keeps your swing in shape when it is snowing outside.
Those that close: cases not to get wrong
Some very well-known addresses are not winter ones. Masseria San Domenico, according to the Michelin Guide, closes from November to February; Due Lune at Puntaldia is a seasonal resort and its club publishes rates from 1 April to 10 November; the Grand Hotel Fasano on Lake Garda has announced for 2026 a reopening on 27 March and a season ending with a closure on 6 January 2027; the course of the Hotel Hermitage on Elba is open from April to October.
Winter rates: two examples from the courses
Where the hotel has no course of its own, the club's winter price list is the figure that matters. At Arzaga, on the Brescia side of Lake Garda, the 2026 green fee for 18 holes is 65 euros on weekdays and 80 at weekends in the low-season months, against 110 and 130 euros from 16 March to 8 November. At Is Molas, in Sardinia, weekday green fees for 18 holes start from 80 euros from 7 January to 31 March and in November; the resort speaks of days often above 15 °C in December and January. The Arzaga course and the Is Molas club publish rates for the whole year, but those who want to sleep on site must ask the hotel for its opening dates.
