At Tanka, in Sardinia, the 2026 price list sets a winter green fee of 60 euros for 18 holes, against 100 in August. In Italy winter is the season when golf costs least and, on the coasts and the islands, you can genuinely play.
Anyone who thinks of Italian golf as a spring and autumn pursuit is missing the most affordable season. On the Tyrrhenian coasts, in Liguria, in Sardinia and in Sicily many clubs stay open all year and apply low-season rates that, in 2026, cut the summer price by more than a third.
Here you will find the clubs that declare winter opening or publish a low-season price list valid from November to March, and the hotels from which to reach them. The advice never changes: phone before you set off, because even courses open all year close for maintenance, for tournaments or on fixed days. Mountain courses, which close with the snow, are left out: at Petersberg, in South Tyrol, the 2026 season runs from 17 April to 1 November.
Sardinia: the south of the island from January to November
Is Molas, in Pula, has 27 holes: the championship course (par 72, 6,383 metres), whose 14th hole has a green shaped like Africa, and the nine-hole Giallo course. It is played all year and the 2026 price list sets the low season from 80 euros for 18 holes on weekdays, from 7 January to 31 March and in November; in August the price reaches 135. The resort speaks of days often above 15 °C in December and January. Its unlimited golf packages, however, run from April to October, excluding July and August: in winter you book the course separately. The base is the Is Molas Resort, a four-star superior hotel on the course.
Tanka, in Villasimius, is open twelve months a year. It has 18 holes, par 70 (5,393 metres, slope 140), with a view over the Capo Carbonara marine protected area, and the 2026 price list sets 60 euros in winter, 75 in April-May and in October, and 100 in August.
Tyrrhenian Tuscany and the Maremma
The Argentario Golf Club, in Porto Ercole, can be played all year according to the club. It is an 18-hole, par 71 course of 6,295 metres, hosted the 2025 Italian Open and has been Italy's only course with a PGA National licence since 2019. In 2026 the 18-hole green fee is 120 euros from 12 January to 31 March and from 1 November to 23 December, while from June to September it rises to 170 euros. Those who want to sleep on the course will find the Argentario Golf & Wellness Resort, with a 2,700 m² wellness centre and an indoor saltwater pool.
At Punta Ala the club operates all year: the 2026 price list shows 85 euros in low season, from 7 January to 27 March and from 2 November to 23 December, against 105 in high season. The Elba Golf Club Acquabona, in Porto Ferraio, is open all year, closes on Mondays only in low season and costs 55 euros for 18 holes, the same price every day (nine holes with double tee times). At Tirrenia, in the San Rossore Park, the club describes a nine-hole course playable all year thanks to the mild climate and the shelter the woods offer from the wind.
For a weekend with a spa, Terme di Saturnia has a driving range with three bays heated in winter and a spring at 37.5 °C: the water brings relief after a cold round.
Liguria: the Riviera of clubs that never close
Golf Rapallo is open all year from 7.30 am, except on Tuesdays that are not public holidays: 18 holes, par 70, with only two par 5s, and the first part of the course dates back to 1929. Nearby is the Excelsior Palace Hotel, the five-star luxury hotel that recommends the Rapallo club itself, with a spa open all year. Further west, the Golf Club Garlenda is open every day of the year and La Meridiana offers its guests a green fee from 60 euros on weekdays and 80 at the weekend, with a pass for five consecutive days. At Sanremo, by contrast, comes an example of a technical closure: the club is closed from 29 September to 9 October 2026 for aeration and reseeding work.
Sicily and the South: Etna, Metaponto
Il Picciolo, at the foot of Etna, publishes its opening hours for the whole year: from 8 am to 5 pm in winter and from 8 am to 7 pm in summer. It is an 18-hole, par 72 course dating from 1989, with tees set into the lava. The Il Picciolo Etna Golf Resort & Spa offers its guests a green fee of 90 euros instead of 110, with a 940 m² spa. At Metaponto, in Basilicata, the club declares that it can be played all year thanks to the mild climate.
At Verdura, caution is needed: as of 3 October 2026, East Links was listed as open, West Shore as open with works on the Bermuda grass, and Executive as closed until spring 2027. Before planning a winter there, it is worth asking the resort about the state of the courses.
Northern Adriatic: sand, sea wind, low prices
On the Veneto seaboard the Circolo Golf Venezia Alberoni, a links with 18 holes, par 72, offers a winter rate from 60 euros (95 on weekdays in season, in 2026) and closes on Mondays during winter hours. At Jesolo the club stresses that its sandy soil drains very well and makes the course suitable for the cold months too. At Lignano the green fee starts from 45 euros in December and January (2026 price list), and at Albarella the course is open 365 days a year. At Cervia the low season, from January to March and from November to December, costs 70 euros for 18 holes on weekdays.
Lombardy: Arzaga and the low season
Those who stay in Lombardy also have an option: the QC Grand Hotel Villa Arzaga, in the hills of the Valtenesi, divides the year in two. High season runs from 16 March to 8 November; in the winter months the 2026 green fee drops to 65 euros on weekdays and 80 at weekends, about 40% less.

What to ask before you leave
Three questions avoid unpleasant surprises. Is the course open on the days I want to play, taking weekly closures into account (Tuesday at Rapallo, Monday at Elba in low season)? Are there closures for maintenance, such as coring? And does the winter rate apply every day or only on weekdays? For the rest, dress in layers and bring a waterproof jacket.
Curiosities
- The green shaped like Africa. At Is Molas the 14th hole has a green designed like the continent.
- Spring water on the course. At Saturnia the greenkeepers spray thermal water on the turf every week; its sulphur prevents fungal diseases, according to the hotel.
- The award-winning nine-holer. The Tirrenia club says it is, according to Golf Digest, the best nine-hole course in Italy.
