Lessons with a professional: what to expect

5 min read

At Folgaria, if you beat the professional over a nine-hole lesson, the lesson is free. In Italy a golf lesson can last half an hour or an hour and cost from 25 to 80 euros: duration, technology, language and what to ask before you book.

An individual lesson usually lasts 30 minutes or an hour, and costs from 25 to 80 euros. What changes is the price, the language of instruction and the technology used: radar, video, simulator. Here is what you find at the clubs, with the prices from their lists, and what it is worth asking the professional before you book.

Half an hour or an hour: what a golf lesson costs

Italian clubs employ qualified professionals, whom the clubs present as PGAI or PGA professionals. The individual lesson is sold in blocks of 30 minutes or one hour, often with multi-lesson packages at a reduced price. Here are some price lists:

Club Lesson Price Year
Lamborghini (Umbria) 30 minutes / 1 hour €30 / €60 2026
Paradiso del Garda 30 minutes / 60 minutes €30 / €60 not stated
Saluzzo 30 minutes; 5 lessons €135, 10 lessons €260 €30 not stated
Margara (Piedmont) 1 hour, for guests €70 not stated
Cortina 1 hour, with clubs and balls €80 not stated
Folgaria 30 minutes €35 not stated
Ca' Amata 30 minutes, adults / juniors; 12 lessons €300 / €200 €30 / €20 not stated
Montelupo on-course lesson with a professional, adults / juniors €25 / €10 not stated
Freudenstein 50 minutes €84 not stated

Canavese, in Piedmont, lists 60 euros for an hour and 30 for half an hour with Trackman 4 (2025 price list). Where no year is given, the price list should be confirmed with the club. At Freudenstein the published price list also gives 115 euros for two people, 144 for three and 168 for four; the six-hour clinic costs 420 euros per person.

What happens during the lesson

It depends on the professional, but the tools the clubs declare come down to three. The radar, often TrackMan, measures the flight of the ball: at Margara the indoor studio is equipped with one, and at Folgaria the Trackman can also be hired. Video analysis: at Tiber in Rome the Performance Station pairs a Garmin Approach R50 launch monitor with V1 Sports video analysis, to use alone or with a professional. The simulator or indoor practice keeps things going through the winter: at Cortina, according to the club, practice continues indoors.

With these tools the lesson starts from measured data rather than impressions.

Language, group formats, clinics

  • In English and German. The professional at Golf Club Paradiso del Garda, declared as Head Professional PGA Italia, also teaches in these two languages.
  • In a group. At Folgaria in summer, every Saturday from 5 to 6 pm, there is a group lesson for people who have never played, at 20 euros (year not stated).
  • Clinics. Paradiso del Garda runs two-day clinics on the long game and the short game using the Pelz method; at Freudenstein the clinic lasts six hours.
  • As part of a stay. At Verdura, in Sicily, the Golf Inclusive package at Verdura Resort includes a 30-minute lesson with Trackman.

A curiosity: challenging the professional

At Folgaria, among the Academy's offers is an on-course lesson over nine holes: if you beat the professional, the lesson is free. The rules and conditions should be requested from the club.

Before you book: what to ask the professional

  • Length and price: 30 minutes, 50 minutes or an hour? The prices in the table differ from club to club.
  • Language of instruction, if you do not speak Italian.
  • Equipment: at Cortina clubs and balls are included in the price; elsewhere they are not.
  • Technology: are radar or video included in the price of the lesson, or paid for separately?
  • Where it takes place: practice area, putting green or out on the course.
  • Packages: if you are staying several days, a package of five lessons may cost less.
