Ferruccio Lamborghini left tractors and cars behind for farming, bought an estate on Lake Trasimeno and in 1991 opened a nine-hole golf course to bring the game to the local community. The Lamborghini Golf Club in Panicale sits there, among vineyards and small lakes, with par 36 and a 9th hole guarded by four small lakes.

The Lamborghini Golf Club course: nine par-36 holes above Lake Trasimeno
The course is a nine-hole par 36, laid out in the classic way with five par 4s, two par 5s and two par 3s, measuring 2,875 metres from the men's tees (2,466 from the women's) and sitting at 285 metres above sea level. The terrain is flat with water hazards and the stated difficulty is “sporty”. It was designed by Ferruccio Lamborghini, who wanted to make golf more popular in the area and accessible to residents, and he laid out a course with white-sand bunkers and plenty of trees and shrubs.
The 2026 technical description by head professional Alessio Urbani (PGA) highlights the doglegs and penalty areas: the main lake comes into play on the 5th (off the tee) and the 7th (on the second and third shots), while a long ditch runs across the course and affects holes 4, 5, 7 and 8. There are also internal out-of-bounds areas (holes 4, 7 and 9). The key holes: the 4th, a par 5 of 493 metres, with out of bounds on both sides and a ditch 230 metres from the tee; the 5th, a par 4 of 371 metres, long and narrow with the lake on the left, the hardest hole; the 7th, a 439-metre par 5 with a double dogleg; the 9th, a 305-metre par 4 with four small lakes between tee shot and approach. On the par 4s at the 1st (286 metres) and the 9th, the longest hitters can reach the green.

The club: Ferruccio's estate and its facilities
Golf is one of the three souls of the Lamborghini Estate, 100 hectares between the southern shore of Lake Trasimeno and the medieval village of Panicale, on the border with Tuscany. Ferruccio Lamborghini bought the estate in the late 1960s, when he left the engine industry to return to farming; the first harvest was in 1975, and the wine was called “Sangue di Miura”. Lamborghini died in 1993; since 2015 the property has belonged to a Milan company owned by the Tschang family, and the golf club's president is Silvio Tschang.
The practice range has 20 bays, 10 of them covered, with floodlit putting and pitching greens, a practice bunker and an indoor area in the clubhouse with a net and a mirror. The clubhouse has a secretary's office, pro shop, bar and the Lamborghini restaurant. The golf school is run by Alessio Urbani, a PGA professional, who is also in charge of the secretary's office. The course furnishings are custom-made and draw on golf, the winery and Lake Trasimeno: on the tee markers these elements merge.
Curiosities about the Lamborghini Golf Club
- From tractor to green. After leaving tractors and cars behind, Ferruccio Lamborghini also designed the golf course.
- Sangue di Miura. The estate's first wine, from the 1975 harvest, was given that name.
- Four small lakes at the 9th. The closing hole has four between the tee shot and the approach.
- “Cellar-style” tee markers. The course furnishings blend elements of golf, the winery and Lake Trasimeno.
- White bunkers. The white sand, typical of the great international courses, will be extended to all the bunkers.
