The course at Montelupo Golf Club: 14 flat holes along the Arno
The club was founded in 1996 and today, as its website says, the course offers 14 holes on flat terrain that follows the course of the Arno, surrounded by the Tuscan landscape of the Chianti Montalbano. The course is considered suitable for beginners, yet demands the full attention of more experienced players: it is not excessively difficult, the club writes, “but pars always have to be earned”.
The website does not publish par, length or the name of the architect. The price list hints at how the layout can be played: the green fee is the same for rounds of 9, 13 or 18 holes, and competitions also use formats of 9, 12-13 and 18 holes. One rule concerns hole 10: players arriving from the 9th have the right to tee off alternating with the groups starting from the 1st.
Playing at Montelupo Golf Club as a guest
Guests are always welcome: the club is open all year, every day, closing on 25 December, at Easter and on 15 August. You need a player qualification of NC (for men and women) and a Federazione Italiana Golf card.
The 2026 price list sets the adult daily green fee at 40 euros on weekdays and 45 at weekends and holidays, for 9, 13 or 18 holes; in the afternoon, in the three hours before sunset, you pay 30 and 35 euros. Juniors pay 15 and 20 euros (10 and 15 in the afternoon). The green fee includes the course and the practice area, while golf carts, trolleys and clubs are rented separately; packages of 10 and 20 green fees, with no expiry date, cost 320 and 550 euros.
The dress code asks for golf-appropriate attire: tank tops, tracksuits and blue jeans are not allowed; only soft spikes are permitted. A golf cart is granted at the discretion of the office, for two people and not to those under 18.
The club: practice area, American bar and competitions
For practice there are a driving range, a putting green, a chipping green and a practice bunker. The clubhouse has an American bar and a pro shop, and the club also runs a restaurant. The school offers courses for newcomers and for young people, while an on-course lesson with a pro costs 25 euros (10 for juniors).
The competition calendar includes series of events named after three European golf destinations: Road to Málaga, Road to Montecastillo and Road to Mallorca.
