When the first holes were laid out at Maso Spilzi in 1987, Trentino had only one other golf course, Campo Carlo Magno. Folgaria's was the first public course in the province; today, at over 1,200 metres above sea level on the Alpe Cimbra, it has 18 holes and in 2026 hosts the national Pulcini and Pulcine championship.

The Golf Club Folgaria course: 18 holes between woods and meadows
The course occupies the Costa area, above Folgaria, at over 1,200 metres. It is a par 72 of about 5,390 metres from the men's tees, short on paper but to be played with the elevation changes of a mountain course: tee shots from above, uphill second shots, hidden greens.
The opening holes run through the trees. The 1st is a 478-metre par 5 that is “apparently easy”, with out of bounds and water on the left; the 4th, a downhill par 3, has a pond that brushes the green. At the 7th you leave the woods and, up to the 15th, the danger becomes the uncut long grass at the sides of the fairways. The 8th calls for a downhill tee shot and then a second shot to a hidden green at the top of a steep rise; the 11th is an uphill blind par 3. The 12th invites long hitters to cut the dogleg on the right, and the 14th, the longest par 5 after the first (476 metres), alternates two bends with out of bounds along the whole right side. The 15th, the last par 3 of the upper section, is again played from above to a wide but very undulating green.
Playing Golf Club Folgaria as a guest
The course opens in May and closes in October; in summer the office is open from 8 am to 8 pm, in spring and autumn with shorter hours. The 2026 price list sets 18 holes at 50 euros on weekdays and 60 on weekends, while in August the price is 70 euros. For those who play several times there are booklets of 5 rounds (250 euros) and 10 (450). The driving range costs 5 euros.
The golf cart costs 35 euros on weekdays and 45 on weekends and in August; an electric trolley 20 euros, a manual one 5. Several hotels in Folgaria and Costa have agreements with the club.
The club: from Maso Spilzi to national youth tournaments
The idea for the course came from Corrado Daldoss, the first president; the then mayor of Folgaria, Remo Cappelletti, helped to make it happen. The decisive step came in 2014, with the extension to 18 holes, which opened the door to more important tournaments. In 2026 the club hosts, in collaboration with the Italian Golf Federation, the national Pulcini and Pulcine championship, individual from 7 to 9 July and team on 10 and 11 July.
The Academy is entrusted to the professional Andrea Costa, with lessons at 35 euros for half an hour, intensive courses and Trackman rental. In summer, every Saturday from 5 to 6 pm, there is a group lesson for those who have never played, at 20 euros. After the round, you stop at the Bar Ristorante Maso Spilzi.
Curiosities about Golf Club Folgaria
- The first public course. According to the club, Maso Spilzi was the first public course in the province of Trento and the second overall after Campo Carlo Magno.
- Out of the woods. From the 7th to the 15th the holes leave the trees and the hazard becomes the long grass of the uncut meadows.
- Eighteen holes only recently. The course reached its current configuration only in 2014.
- Challenge the pro. Among the Academy's offerings is an on-course lesson over nine holes: if you beat the pro, the lesson is free.
