The club, opened in 2009 on the Via del Mare, starts from a precise idea: over 70% of the shots in a round are played inside a hundred metres, and that is where the score is built.

The Tiber Golf Club course: 18 holes from 40 to 90 metres
The Tiber course is devoted entirely to the short game: eighteen holes between 40 and 90 metres long, 1,142 metres in total and par 54, on average a par 3 per hole. Hole 1, for example, is a 64-metre par 3 with stroke index 7; the website presents the holes one by one, with length and the distance to the start and end of the green.
The club calls the format Pitch & Putt, but insists that it is not “golf in miniature”. You hit from the tee, face real playing situations and keep a score, under real rules. The club's manifesto explains it this way: approach shots, distance control, bunkers, reading greens and putting are the part of golf that decides matches.
For those who have played for years it is technical training: eighteen repetitions of the situation that gains or loses strokes. For beginners it is easier to get the ball in play from the very first attempts. A full round takes less than two hours, against the four or five of a long course: that is why many come after work.
Playing at Tiber Golf Club as a guest
To play the course you need the federation card with handicap, which the club explains is an insurance rule valid on all Italian courses. Anyone without one can obtain it at Tiber: the rules course lasts three hours and, according to the website, costs 20 euros with a lesson included. The Federation's GOLFPOP card includes the first lesson with a teacher, the equipment and the membership.
The price list published on the website, which gives no year, shows a weekday green fee of 25 euros and a weekend and holiday one of 30, with a reduced rate on Mondays and free entry for under-16s; clubs can be rented at the club. The driving range, the putting and the pitching green are open to everyone, even without a card.
The club is open every day from 8 am to 9 pm, all year round. Those who want to analyse their swing can book the Performance Station, with a Garmin Approach R50 launch monitor and V1 Sports video analysis, alone or with a teacher. The club is at Via del Mare 1050: cars have free on-site parking, or you can take the MetroMare to Vitinia, where a club representative accompanies golfers and bags, with advance notice.
The club: Academy, competitions and bistro
Tiber was born in 2009 with the idea of “spreading golf, not guarding it”. Today it has 248 members, no admissions committee and a structure led by the president Luca Piano del Balzo, with Emanuele Canonica as head pro and Federico Sacchetti as PGAI teacher.
The Golf School for children aged 6 to 14 runs from October to May, while the Academy organises individual lessons. The competition calendar covers the whole year: 18-hole stableford events, often with a 6 pm shotgun start in the summer months, and the Tiber Major, scheduled for 9, 10 and 11 October 2026 under the patronage of the Federation.
The bistro, overlooking the putting green, is open to members and non-members every day from 8 am to 9 pm, with evening service on Fridays and Saturdays. The cooking is “club style”, with homemade pasta and a menu that changes with the seasons; in summer you eat in the garden, in winter by the fireplace.
