On a club's website there is a form that promises a tee time, but in Venice that request only counts once the secretary's office confirms it. In Italy a tee time has at least four different routes, and it pays to know which applies where before choosing the course.
In Italy a tee time is booked in one of three ways: online through the club's website, at the secretary's office (phone or email) or through the hotel. There is no single portal: each club chooses its own system, and in some cases the online request is merely an enquiry that the secretary's office has to confirm.
How booking works: the three routes
At many clubs online and the secretary's office coexist. Some, like Pelagone, leave tee times to the online system and reserve packages, groups and competitions for the secretary's office.
- Online. The club offers a portal linked to its website, or simply a form.
- Secretary's office. Phone, email, in some cases WhatsApp. The Country Club Castelgandolfo, for example, takes bookings at the secretary's office from Monday to Friday, 8:30 am to 6:30 pm, and at weekends from 8:30 am to 7 pm, as well as online.
- Hotel. Many hotels with a golf agreement book the tee time on behalf of their guests.
The platforms you will meet
The booking platforms that recur are few, and some are used by several clubs.
| Platform | Clubs that use it, for example |
|---|---|
| Chronogolf | Asiago, Menaggio, Puntaldia, Tolcinasco, Golf dei Laghi, Golf Nazionale (Sutri) |
| GES Golf / GesGolf | Castelfranco Ca' Amata, Riviera Golf (San Giovanni in Marignano) |
| Nexxchange | Passeier.Meran, Tarvisio, Valtellina, Le Rovedine |
| Bookingolf | La Serra (Valenza) |
| Golf Manager | Lignano |
The platform, in any case, is only the channel: the conditions of access are set by the club. Golf Club Menaggio, which uses Chronogolf, lists an exact handicap of 54 as a requirement; at Pevero, whose 2026 price list provides for booking with cancellation 48 hours ahead, you need a card from a recognised federation and a maximum handicap of 54.
When online booking is not enough
The request that has to be confirmed
The Circolo Golf Venezia uses an online form that asks for home club and handicap, both compulsory; the final booking depends on confirmation from the secretary's office. Terre dei Consoli (Monterosi) says it welcomes “everyone, from tourists to occasional visitors”, but here too the online form has to be confirmed to gain access to the course. At Golf Club Trieste the form is to be filled in at least 48 hours in advance.
The private club
Golf Club Milano, in Monza Park, is a private club: on Saturdays, Sundays and public holidays the course is reserved for members and their guests. The website states that guests are welcome up to six times a year, but does not say on what terms. Green fee and details are not published: you ask the secretary's office, open from Tuesday to Sunday, 8:30 am to 5:30 pm. Castiglion del Bosco, in Montalcino, admits hotel guests and, for everyone else, only an online request for Unaccompanied Play with a certified handicap, subject to confirmation.
The club that publishes nothing
Sometimes the website gives neither rates nor opening hours. Golf Club Villa d'Este, in Montorfano, does not publish a price list: tee times are requested from the secretary's office (+39 031 200 200, [email protected]). The course is open from March to December, every day except Tuesday, according to the dedicated page on the hotel's website.
How far ahead to book
There is no national rule: each club sets its own calendar. A few concrete examples:
- Mare di Roma (Ardea) sends groups off every 12 minutes and opens online bookings up to six months ahead, with phone and WhatsApp as alternatives.
- At Trieste you need at least 48 hours, as seen above.
- Golf Club Menaggio recommends booking ahead, including for extras such as golf carts and trolleys.
- Pevero is open every day from 8:00 am to 7:30 pm (2026 price list).
Cancellations and penalties: read before confirming
Cancellation conditions are not uniform. A few examples:
- Pevero: cancellation with less than 48 hours' notice, 100% charged (2026 price list).
- Pustertal (Bruneck): cancellation at least 24 hours ahead, otherwise the green fee is charged.
- Golf Senza Confini (Tarvisio): free cancellation up to 24 hours before the tee time.
A practical rule: before confirming, look in the conditions for the word “disdetta” or “cancellation”. If the booking page does not mention it, ask at the secretary's office.
Other requirements that affect booking
Some clubs make a tee time conditional on requirements worth knowing at once. At Salsomaggiore you need a handicap certificate (maximum 54), soft spikes and a booking, made by phone on 0524 583102; at Conero (Sirolo) booking the time is compulsory and soft spikes are required, while crew-neck T-shirts, tank tops and jeans are not allowed on the course.
Booking through the hotel
If the hotel has a golf agreement, the tee time is often requested from the hotel:
- Villa d'Este: tee times at the golf club are booked through the hotel's Guest Relations.
- Hotel Castel (Tirolo): the staff book tee times, and the stay includes the South Tyrol Golfcard, with 20% off the green fee at the nine courses of the province.
- Hohenwart (Schenna): helps book tee times and lessons and hands over the same Golfcard.
- Quellenhof Passeier: the tee time at the Merano club is booked at the reception, with a green fee of 72 euros instead of about 105.
Frequently asked questions
Can I book a tee time in Italy without phoning?+
Often yes: many clubs have an online form or platform (for example Chronogolf, GES Golf or Nexxchange). Some do not, however, such as Villa d'Este in Montorfano, where you write or phone the secretary's office.
How far ahead should I book?+
It depends on the club. Mare di Roma opens online bookings up to six months ahead; at Trieste the form must be filled in at least 48 hours ahead. In competition periods or high season, ask well in advance.
Is an online booking final?+
Not always. At Circolo Golf Venezia the request depends on confirmation from the secretary's office, and at Terre dei Consoli the form has to be confirmed. Make sure you have received the confirmation, not just the receipt.
What happens if I have to cancel?+
It depends on the club: at Pustertal cancellation must be made at least 24 hours ahead, otherwise the green fee is charged; at Tarvisio cancellation is free up to 24 hours ahead; at Pevero, with less than 48 hours' notice, 100% is charged (2026 price list).
Does a private club accept guests?+
Some do, with limits. Golf Club Milano reserves weekends and public holidays for members and members' guests, and accepts guests up to six times a year, without the website specifying the terms: ask the secretary's office.
Can the hotel book for me?+
Where there is an agreement, yes: Villa d'Este does so through Guest Relations, Hotel Castel and Hohenwart through the staff, the Quellenhof Passeier through the reception.
