From age five at Villa d'Este, six at Courmayeur and Rovigo, eight at Chieti: the minimum age for joining a golf school changes from club to club, and it is worth knowing before choosing where to go on holiday with the children.
A child who has never held a club can start on a holiday, but not everywhere and not at any age. The clubs below declare a programme for the youngest: a school with courses for children, a summer camp or a junior club. There are fourteen addresses between the Alps, the Po Valley, the Tyrrhenian coast and the islands, each with its own minimum ages and periods.

Hotels and family holidays: lessons without joining a club
For those travelling, the simplest formula is the hotel. The Villa d'Este on Lake Como includes among its golf experiences two-hour lessons for children and teenagers aged 5 to 14 at the Golf Club Villa d'Este: it is the lowest minimum age among these addresses. The Verdura Resort, in Sicily, has a Junior Golf Academy for young people aged 6 to 16 and a Rocco Forte Kids programme divided by age band (0-3, 4-12 and 13-16); the Verdùland kids club, open in high season, is free according to the hotel. For both, availability and periods should be confirmed with reception when booking.
Summer in the mountains: the camps at Courmayeur and Gressoney
In the Aosta Valley, golf for children is a summer matter. At Courmayeur the season runs from late May to October, and the tourist board gives 29 May to 4 October for 2026, while the price list runs to 11 October. The club offers a five-day Junior Golf Summer Camp and the Youth Club; juniors born after 1 January 2008 get 30% off the green fee. At Gressoney, in summer 2026, the introductory courses in July and August last five days, one hour a day from Monday to Friday, with coach, balls and irons included: €100 for adults and €80 for children, with a minimum of five participants according to local tourist information. The advantage for a family: parents can take the same courses on the same days.
City and plain: schools all year round
Those who live in or pass through the cities find more continuous programmes. Tiber, in Rome, runs its school for young people aged 6 to 14 from October to May; the club also tells of youngsters who register with the federation for one euro a year. Rovigo is a 9-hole course with eight par 3s and one par 4, built for beginners: the school offers courses for children aged 6 to 12, but costs, days and times must be asked at the office. At Panorama in Varese and at Barlassina there are genuine structured junior groups, the Junior Team, open respectively from 6 to 16 and from 6 to 18: formats designed more for those who live nearby than for a holiday week.
At Castelfranco Veneto, Ca' Amata has a school with three professionals and a programme for baby golfers; for half-hour lessons the club has separate rates for adults and young people. The green fee, too, is often reduced for the youngest: at Colli Berici, in the 2026 price list, under-18s pay €30 for 18 holes.
By the sea: Sardinia, Abruzzo, Veneto
At Is Molas, in Pula, the Golf Academy uses TrackMan and video analysis and organises individual lessons, clinics and a Golf Camp for young people; those under 18 pay €40 for 18 holes on weekdays (2026 price list). At Adriatico Golf Club, in Chieti, children's courses start at age eight and the Youth Club, for young people from 8 to 15, is led by a coach who teaches the rules and the first notions of the swing. At Jesolo, the Golf Jesolo Academy is run by Luis Vega and offers group courses of three to six people for adults and children, in Italian, English and Spanish: a solution for a beach holiday with an hour of golf a day.
Before booking: what to ask
- Minimum age and period. As you can see, the programmes start at 5, 6 or 8 years and many are seasonal.
- Equipment. Ask whether clubs and balls are included: at Gressoney they are; at the other clubs it is worth asking.
- The coach's language. At Jesolo Italian, English and Spanish are declared; elsewhere you need to ask.
- Membership card. To play on the course you usually need the federal card with a handicap; beginner programmes such as GOLFPOP include card and insurance at some clubs.
- Dates close to departure. Camps have limited places and sometimes a minimum number of participants.
Frequently asked questions

It depends on the club. The declared minimum ages are 5 (children's lessons at Villa d'Este), 6 (Courmayeur, Rovigo, Valenza, Tiber, Varese, Barlassina, Verdura) and 8 (Adriatico Golf Club in Chieti).
Are there summer golf camps for young people in Italy?+

How much does a children's golf course cost?+
There is no single price. At Gressoney the five-day course cost €80 for children in summer 2026; elsewhere prices must be asked at the office.

Can a luxury hotel arrange lessons for children?+
