Between the 4th hole and the 9th hole of Panorama Golf in Varese lies an artificial lake, the signature of a 9-hole, par 33 course that the club calls “very demanding” and on which, it warns, no hole is a given. The design is by Luigi Rota Caremoli; the course runs through a pre-Alpine wood of oaks, chestnuts and black locusts, five minutes from the centre of Varese.

The Panorama Golf course: 9 holes in the pre-Alpine woods of Varese
The Panorama Course is a 9-hole, par 33 layout designed by Luigi Rota Caremoli, the architect who also signed Colline del Gavi, Il Picciolo, I Ciliegi and K Club Barbuda. It winds through a pre-Alpine setting of oak, chestnut and black locust woodland; between the 4th hole and the 9th hole an artificial lake opens up. Hazards and out-of-bounds are spread across the whole round.
The club is explicit about the character of the layout: “you don’t need an especially long drive to play well on this course; above all you need great precision”. The club’s handicap table gives a Course Rating of 32.1 and a slope of 114 from the men’s yellow tees, 31.1 and 111 from the green tees; for women the red tees have 32.7 and 111. The club’s website does not publish the length in metres, so we do not state it.
Next door is the Belmonte Pitch & Putt Course: nine holes, all par 3, of 40 to 70 metres each, about 600 metres in total. The club points out that around 60% of shots in competition are played within the last 70 metres from the hole; a nine-hole round takes about 45 minutes and three clubs at most are enough: a putter and two irons of your choice. It is designed for beginners and young players, because power is not needed.
Playing Panorama Golf as a visitor
The 2026 price list sets a daily green fee of €38 from Monday to Friday (midweek public holidays excluded) and €48 on public holidays. Juniors under 18 get a 50% reduction, and the 11-green-fee pass costs €430. Entry to the driving range or the pitch & putt is €10, with an 11-entry pass at €100.
You can hire a golf buggy, €25 for 9 holes and €35 for 18, and a trolley at €5; a token for 24 balls costs €2. Entering a competition costs €20 for 18 holes, €15 for 9 and €10 for juniors.
The office is open from November to March from 9 am to 1 pm and from 2 pm to 5 pm, and from April to October from 9 am to 1 pm and from 2 pm to 6 pm; the club is closed on 24, 25, 26 and 31 December and on 1 January. The club’s website does not state the handicap required: book at the office, on 0332 330356 or by email at [email protected].
The club: driving range, academy and restaurant
The driving range covers about 20,000 square metres and has 8 covered, floodlit bays and 11 open-air ones, with targets at various distances; there is a putting green and a chipping area with bunkers, useful for the short game.
The Scuola Golf Varese has a staff of federation instructors: Alberto Ballarin, Giuseppe Ambrosini and Riccardo Pasqualini. It offers individual and group lessons, video swing analysis, the Junior Team for young players aged 6 to 16 and the Pro-Am events, in which you play with your own teacher. To try the driving range you need neither a membership card nor registration, and beginners are provided with equipment.
The club also has a restaurant with a bistro and wine bar, at Via Belmonte 169: the restaurant serves lunch and dinner, the bistro lunch, and the wine bar is open from 9:30 am to 10 pm; it is closed on Tuesdays. The same complex includes a pro shop and a health centre, Panorama Salute. The sporting programme includes a Senior Club, a Ladies Club and the club and winter championships.
