Golf in Lazio
15 courses
Lazio has hosted the most-watched contest in European golf: in 2023 Marco Simone, at Guidonia, on the edge of Rome, staged the Ryder Cup, won by Europe over the United States 16.5 to 11.5.
Around the capital, golf lives alongside history: at Archi di Claudio the remains of a 52 AD aqueduct form the backdrop, and at Parco di Roma a Roman water tank opens up between the 13th and 14th holes. At Monterosi, Terre dei Consoli has its "The Island" designed by Robert Trent Jones Jr, while at Fiuggi golf has been played since 1928 on a course the club describes as entirely organic.
