The course at Marco Simone Golf & Country Club: 18 Ryder Cup holes

The original design is by Jim Fazio, but today's course is the one rebuilt by Tom Fazio II and European Golf Design for the Ryder Cup of September 2023. It is a par 72, with four par 3s, ten par 4s and four par 5s; the length ranges from 6,674 to 7,299 metres, with four tees for men and three for women.

The design works the terrain with lakes and amphitheatre-style contours, intended to let spectators see the holes: the club states a capacity of 50,000 visitors a day. From several points on the course you can see the dome of St Peter's, about 17 kilometres from Rome. Within the estate remain a castle and the remains of a 2nd-century Roman villa.

The club: castle, academy and restaurant

The name comes from the Marco Simone castle. In 1457 the estate passed to Simone dei Tebaldi and his son Marco; from 1545 Cardinal Federico Cesi renovated it and made it Castel Cesi; in 1678 it passed to the Borghese. After its abandonment in the post-war period, the fashion designer Laura Biagiotti restored it with the Soprintendenza.

The course has also hosted the Italian Open, including the 2021, 2022 and 2023 editions. Besides the course there are a driving range, an academy, a gym, a spa, a pool and the On The Green restaurant, serving Italian cuisine. The club offers stay and play packages with the Rome Cavalieri and Savoy hotels.
