The Golf Club Fiuggi 1928 course: 18 holes between the spa and the lake

The layout is a par 70 of 5,864 metres, a compact length that the club offsets with the technical quirks of hilly terrain: the clubhouse stands 641 metres above sea level. According to the club, the 18 holes stretch from the Bonifacio VIII thermal spring to Lake Canterno.

The slope is 123 from the men's tees and 128 from the women's, with a course rating of 70.3 and 72.5: a course within reach of regular players, but far from trivial. Turf management follows a clear choice: no herbicides, to protect the flora and fauna of the course. Visitors in spring or autumn therefore find a course of natural green, kept without chemicals.

The club is open seven days a week, with the office open from 8 am to 7:30 pm, and green fees are booked through a form on the website or by phone. Two rules worth knowing: the golf cart may not be used in rain or on wet ground without the office's authorisation, and driving is forbidden to under-18s. The rules ban tracksuits and jeans and shoes with iron spikes. The website gives no minimum handicap for guests: it is best to ask when booking.

The club: clubhouse, restaurant and pros

The clubhouse was built in the early 1970s, with an architecture designed to blend into the surrounding woodland: it has a bar, a TV room, changing rooms for guests and a spacious living room with fireplace. The restaurant has a panoramic terrace over the course and serves dishes from the Ciociaria tradition, with quick service for those coming off the course.

Teaching is entrusted to three professionals: Maurizio Severa, head pro and in charge of junior golf since 1998, Pierluigi Severa, a short-game specialist, and Gabriele Terrinoni. In the tournament calendar the Ciociaria Cup stands out, a series of eight events combining football and golf.
