At the Golf Hotel in Lainate, a few kilometres from Milan, all 34 rooms are on the same floor: one side looks over the course, the other over the pool. It is one of the ways Milan's clubs solve the night, alongside lodges, residences and grand hotels on the lakes.
Milan is not a city of golf hotels: the courses lie around it, across Brianza, the Groane, the Novara area and the lakes, and the bed has to be chosen according to the course. For anyone who wants to play, two solutions are the most useful: clubs that have rooms of their own, and three grand hotels within reach of the city, on the lakes and in Franciacorta.

Sleeping on the course: lodges and golf hotels
The most straightforward case is the Golf Hotel at Green Club Lainate: four stars, 34 rooms on a single floor, tennis and a summer pool. It shares reception, bar and restaurant with the club, and the rooms look out on one side over the course and on the other over the pool. The course, approved as an 18-hole layout in 2004, has four lakes and a practice ground with 24 covered bays and Trackman radar. For players without a minimum GA qualification there is one rule: they may play only when accompanied by an FIG-PGA professional. The published rate card, headed 2027, asks 55 euros on weekdays and 70 at weekends and on public holidays; hotel guests pay 44 and 56 euros.
The Barlassina Country Club, in the Groane Park and twenty-five minutes from Milan according to the club, has a lodge with eight double rooms inside the clubhouse, with air conditioning, minibar and Wi-Fi; the club pool is open to its guests too. The website does not publish the green fee rates, the handicap limit or the terms for visitors: bookings are made by writing or phoning. The course is closed on non-holiday Mondays and, according to inLombardia, from 20 December to 20 January.
The Golf Brianza, at Usmate Velate, offers the VI.CO. Residence, twelve apartments overlooking the course. On the 2026 rate card the green fee is 70 euros on weekdays and 90 at weekends and on public holidays; the club is closed on Tuesdays.
Castelconturbia, in the Novara area, has a Golf Hotel with 21 rooms overlooking the inner garden and a restaurant with a terrace over the closing holes of the three courses; the 27 holes are by Robert Trent Jones Sr. For guests the club publishes 2026 rates: 91 euros on weekdays in low season and 113 in high season; 113 and 140 at weekends. High season runs from 1 April to 15 July and from 1 September to 31 October.
Le Robinie, halfway between Milan and Varese, has a lodge with apartments and a Jack Nicklaus course, described by the club as the architect's only 18-hole layout in Italy: 65 euros on weekdays and 90 at weekends and on public holidays (rate card with no year). La Pinetina, at Appiano Gentile, also mentions a hotel within the complex.
On the lakes: Villa d'Este, the course and the Lodge
Those who want to sleep in a grand hotel have Villa d'Este, at Cernobbio, a villa from 1568 with 151 rooms and, since 2024, a course of its own: the Circolo Golf Villa d'Este at Montorfano, about 14 kilometres away, an 18-hole par 69 of 5,760 metres designed by Peter Gannon in 1926 and bought back by the hotel in 2024. The 2026 golf package, from 21 March to 21 November with a two-night minimum, includes breakfast, one 18-hole green fee, a golf cart and club hire. The course is open from March to December and closes on Tuesdays.
For sleeping at the course, the club has the Lodge, a lodge with 32-square-metre rooms and a patio on the garden, along the entrance avenue. From the hotel, according to the website, Malpensa is 60 km away (about 48 minutes), Linate 70 km (about an hour) and Bergamo Orio al Serio 100 km.
Franciacorta: L'Albereta and the Franciacorta Golf Club
L'Albereta, at Erbusco, is the first name among the partner hotels of the Franciacorta Golf Club: 27 holes by Pete Dye and Marco Croze in three nines, Brut, Satèn and Rosé. The hotel publishes no golf packages; it points out that nine courses lie within a 100-kilometre radius. It has 53 rooms and suites and a 2,000-square-metre Chenot Espace. The club's rate card, with no year, runs from 60 to 105 euros for 18 holes depending on season and day.
Lake Maggiore: Villa e Palazzo Aminta
Villa e Palazzo Aminta, at Stresa, lists nine affiliated clubs: the two closest, five kilometres away, are the Golf des Iles Borromées, 18 holes par 72, and the Golf Club Alpino, 9 holes par 69. The concierge books the green fees; the hotel publishes no packages or conditions. According to the hotel, Malpensa is 45 kilometres away, and a free shuttle runs to Stresa.
