Facts checked on 18/10/2026

Building Le Robinie meant moving two million cubic metres of earth and gravel: the result is a 70-hectare course with amphitheatre-style holes, designed by Jack Nicklaus. According to the club it is the only 18-hole course the Golden Bear designed in Italy, halfway between Milan and Varese.

The Le Robinie course: 18 Jack Nicklaus holes between Olgiate and Solbiate Olona

The course covers about 70 hectares between Olgiate and Solbiate Olona, and it grew out of a vast earthmoving operation: two million cubic metres of earth and gravel shifted to shape the landscape. The layout is a par 72 with four par 3s (the 3rd, 8th, 11th and 16th, between 164 and 213 metres), ten par 4s from 325 to 428 metres and four par 5s from 485 to 535.

Nicklaus's design relies on raised, amphitheatre-shaped greens, with water hazards always at the side and never in the middle, so that the danger is visible from the approach shot, and on distinctively shaped stepped bunkers. Every hole has five tees, to suit every level. The club describes it as “challenging, not punishing”.

For 9 holes the fee is €40 and €50; juniors pay reduced rates.

Rentals: golf cart from €45 to €70 for 18 holes, electric trolley from €20 to €30, push trolley €6, golf bag €35. The club: clubhouse, pitch & putt and Master Swing Academy

The clubhouse extends over about 10,000 square metres on three levels: downstairs are the changing rooms, a heated indoor pool and a gym; on the ground floor a pro shop, conference rooms, a lounge bar and a restaurant with a patio for more than 200 people, open to non-players too. Those who wish to stay can use the guesthouse, with apartments.

For practice there are two putting greens, a pitching green and a 250-metre driving range with 18 covered, floodlit bays. The pitch & putt is a genuine 18-hole course made up entirely of par 3s, floodlit and designed for short-game practice. Tuition is provided by the Master Swing Academy.
