Facts checked on 18/10/2026

Where the Golf dei Laghi club house stands today, horses once lived: these are the old stables of the Visconti di Modrone, and the course around them winds through a wood that once belonged to the same family. Designed by Piero Mancinelli and opened in 1993, the 18-hole layout at Travedona Monate looks towards Monte Rosa and Lake Maggiore and also welcomes dogs.

The course at Golf dei Laghi: 18 holes between woods and hills

The course was opened in 1993 to a design by Piero Mancinelli, in a largely wooded area once owned by the Visconti. It is not, the club says, a particularly long course: what counts are the natural hazards, trees, small lakes and streams, which force you to place each shot carefully to make the next one easier.

Its particular feature is a division into three: six very wide open holes, six winding through the woods and six in the hilly area. The layout allows you to play 2, 6, 9 or 18 holes and always finish near the club house. From the hilliest part, according to the club, you can see Monte Rosa and Lake Maggiore. Par and length appear only in the stroke saver and handicap table PDFs that the website makes available.

Playing Golf dei Laghi as a guest

The club is open seven days a week and tee times are booked online on the Chronogolf platform. The 2026 price list sets €60 on weekdays and €80 at weekends for 18 holes, with a special rate of €40 on Wednesdays; for 9 holes the fee is €35 on weekdays and €45 on public holidays and weekends. Entering a competition costs €25 for 18 holes.

A golf car for 18 holes costs €35 on weekdays and €40 at weekends and in July and August; an electric trolley €20, a manual one €5. The driving range costs €10 on weekdays and €12 at weekends, and a token for 30 balls €2. There are ten golf cars on site. The club stresses that Golf dei Laghi is dog friendly: dogs are welcome and may follow the player around the course. For beginners, the “become a real golfer for €100” offer is available at the office.

The club: Visconti stables, restaurant and driving range

The club house was created from the old stables of the Visconti di Modrone: the main building, rebuilt in 2007, houses reception, pro shop and changing rooms with sauna; a second building, linked by a short covered passage, has the bar, the restaurant and the members’ lounge. A wide porch looks onto the putting green and the green of hole 9, just 18 metres away.

The restaurant won the Mistretta prize in 2004 as best club restaurant; it is now run by chef Giovanni Maretti, Best Buvette 2024 on the Ristogolf circuit. It is open to non-golfers too and closed on Tuesdays. The driving range has 26 uncovered and 6 covered bays, a pitching green, a chipping green and practice bunkers.
