The Golf Club Lana course: nine holes beneath Brandis Castle
The master plan is by Enrico Lee, the design by the Briton Michael Pinner, formerly of Jack Nicklaus Golf Design. The course opened on 29 August 1998 with an inaugural tournament and, according to the club, lies beneath the ruins of Brandis Castle, with sweeping views over the Adige valley and orchards all around.
It is a nine-hole par 35, fairly flat and suitable for every level, yet long for South Tyrol: 2,887 metres from the white tees, 2,690 from the yellow, 2,560 from the blue and 2,420 from the red. It consists of three par 3s (holes 2, 6 and 8), four par 4s and two par 5s, with the 4th at 430 metres and the 9th at 478; the hardest hole is the 7th, a 401-metre par 4 (stroke index 1). To play 18 holes you repeat the loop: the official scorecard gives the same distances for holes 1–9 and 10–18, for a total of 5,774 metres, par 70.
Another page of the club’s website gives 2,793 metres and par 70 for the nine holes, figures that do not match the scorecard; we have used the scorecard figure.
Playing Golf Club Lana as a guest
The 2026 price list sets the green fee at €50 for 9 holes and €90 for 18; guests of the founding and partner hotels get 20% off. To play you need a federation card with a registered handicap, or the Platzreife, the permit to play. A trolley costs €5, a rental bag €20 and each rental club €2; a token for 30 balls is €4.50.
The course rules ban blue jeans, allow soft spikes only and ask players to carry their own bag; dogs and other animals are not permitted. Reception is open every day from 8 am to 6 pm. For tee times call 0473 564696 or write to [email protected]. Opening months and closing day are not stated; the club speaks of an “exceptionally long” season.
The club: clubhouse, Gutshof and practice area
The driving range has 12 bays, eight of them covered, a “teaching box” with three bays, a pitching green with a bunker and an 18-hole putting green. The club also has a golf school and a pro shop.
The Gutshof Brandis restaurant has a bar, two modern dining rooms, a lounge and a terrace overlooking the valley. The day begins with breakfast on the terrace, continues with home-style dishes at lunch and ends in the evening with gourmet pizza; the management calls the cuisine “Alpine and Mediterranean”.
