The course at Castello di Tolcinasco: 36 holes signed by Arnold Palmer

The layout bears the signature of Arnold Palmer and was designed to host major tournaments. Three championship nines, Blue, Yellow and Red, are interchangeable and can be combined into 18-hole rounds; to these is added a nine-hole par-3 executive course. The Blue and Yellow combination is the championship course that, according to the ranking site Top100GolfCourses, has hosted five editions of the Italian Open since 2004.

The club stresses two design choices. Water is limited to 11 lakes spread across the course, without becoming an insurmountable hazard, while sand appears in the bunkers around fairways and greens and, in some places, takes the place of the rough as so-called “wild sand”. The course also uses bermuda grass, which the club cites as a choice that significantly reduces water consumption and plant-protection treatments.

The par and the lengths of the course are not published on the club’s website.

Playing at Castello di Tolcinasco as a guest

The club is closed on Mondays and the golf course is open from Tuesday to Sunday, from 8:30 am to 6:30 pm. Tee times are booked online on Chronogolf.

The 2026 price list distinguishes two seasons. In high season (1 March–14 July and 1 September–31 October) the 18-hole green fee costs €70 on weekdays and €100 at weekends; nine holes €40 and €50. In low season (1 November–28 February and 15 July–31 August) 18 holes cost €50 during the week and €80 at weekends; nine holes €35 and €40. The executive course costs €35 in high season and €30 in low; for juniors the rates range from €25 to €50.

The golf cart costs €50 for 18 holes and €30 for nine, the pull trolley €8. The practice range with Toptracer costs €25. A Family Promotion with a 5% discount is available. The website gives neither a minimum handicap nor guest rules: it is best to ask at the secretary’s office.

The club: castle, practice range and facilities

The club was opened in 1993 and is built around a sixteenth-century castle, whose first two floors now house the social club. The practice range has 50 open bays and 10 covered ones and three putting greens, and in 2023 it was awarded best practice range at the Italian Golf Awards.

The MAIO Restaurant Club House and a lounge bar serve golfers and guests; the offer is completed by a pro shop, the Golf Academy, the Youth Club and Children’s Campus, as well as the resort’s spa, outdoor pool, gym and tennis courts.
