Milan between fashion and golf: three days of shop windows and fairways

6 min read

Armani/Silos is closed on Mondays and Tuesdays, and on Mondays Tolcinasco, Molinetto, Zoate and Carimate close too. To combine a fashion city with its golf courses, start from the calendar, not the shop windows.

Milan is a city where fashion keeps one calendar and golf keeps another. They do not coincide: fashion week is an invitation-only affair, while the courses around the city run on tee times, closing days and guest rules. This three-day itinerary tries to make the two fit, with two fashion venues and six courses across Milan, Brianza and the Como area, each with something to tell.

The 2027 fashion calendar

The Camera Nazionale della Moda Italiana publishes the dates of the coming editions of Milan Fashion Week. The spring/summer 2027 collections were shown from 22 to 28 September 2026, so they are already behind us. The next ones are:

Edition Dates
Menswear autumn/winter 2027/28 15-19 January 2027
Womenswear autumn/winter 2027/28 23 February-1 March 2027
Menswear spring/summer 2028 18-22 June 2027
Womenswear spring/summer 2028 21-27 September 2027

One clarification from the Camera Moda itself: Fashion Week events are by invitation only, and it warns against anyone selling tickets. For those outside the industry, fashion week is therefore more a condition of the city than a programme to sign up for. The itineraries below work in any week of the year.

Day one: Tolcinasco in the morning, Armani/Silos in the afternoon

The Castello di Tolcinasco has 36 holes designed by Arnold Palmer and opened in 1993, about 13 kilometres from the Duomo in Milan according to the club. The members' clubhouse is a sixteenth-century castle, and the Italian Open has been held here five times, starting in 2004. The course is closed on Mondays and open Tuesday to Sunday from 8:30 am to 6:30 pm; tee times are booked on Chronogolf. In 2026 the 18-hole green fee ranged from 50 to 100 euros depending on season and day (70 euros on weekdays and 100 at weekends in high season).

The afternoon belongs to Armani/Silos, at via Bergognone 40: Giorgio Armani's exhibition space, with a digital archive that can be consulted. According to the official website, in winter it is open Wednesday to Sunday, 11 am to 7 pm (last entry at 6 pm) and closed on Mondays and Tuesdays: for this reason the first day has to fall between Wednesday and Sunday. As of 3 October 2026 the site presents the exhibition "Giorgio Armani Privé 2005-2025. Twenty Years of Haute Couture": it is best to ask for the closing date before booking a ticket.

Day two: two courses with a film and a chair

The second day is for those who love places with a story to tell, and two clubs have one tied to design and cinema.

The Barlassina Country Club, in the Groane Park, is an 18-hole par 72 designed by the Englishman John S. F. Morrison. In 1961 Michelangelo Antonioni chose its clubhouse as a set for La Notte, with Marcello Mastroianni and Jeanne Moreau. According to its own presentation, the club is twenty-five minutes from Milan; it has a guesthouse with 8 double rooms, and the restaurant has a terrace overlooking the 10th hole. The course is closed on Mondays and for a break from 20 December to 20 January, according to inLombardia; the website does not publish a green fee list, so tee times are requested by writing to [email protected].

The Golf Club Carimate (18 holes, par 71, designed by Piero Mancinelli, in the grounds of Carimate Castle) has a design story of its own: Vico Magistretti conceived the celebrated "Carimate" chair, later produced by Cassina, starting from the clubhouse restaurant he was designing here. In 2024 the club received an environmental recognition for its historical and cultural heritage on the occasion of the Italian Open. The course is open all year and closes only on Mondays that are not public holidays.

In the city, again in the afternoon, there is Palazzo Morando | Costume Moda Immagine, at via Sant'Andrea 6: the civic museum shows the city's collection of costumes and clothing, with periodic exhibitions on the ground floor. Admission is free on the first Sunday of every month.

Day three: Monza Park

The Golf Club Milano, founded in 1928 in the Royal Park of Monza, is the best-known club in the area: 27 holes on three courses and nine Italian Opens, the latest in 2017. It has a rule worth knowing: on Saturdays, Sundays and public holidays the course is reserved for members and their guests. The website adds that guests are welcome up to six times a year, without specifying the conditions; the secretary's office is open Tuesday to Sunday (039 30 30 81) and green fees are not published. It is a weekday outing, Tuesday to Friday.

Other options near Milan

The Molinetto Country Club in Cernusco sul Naviglio is about ten kilometres from the centre of Milan and hosted the 42nd Italian Open in 1985, won by Manuel Piñero. The 18-hole green fee runs from 60 to 80 euros on the club's price list (no year given). The Green Club Lainate is open seven days a week: the price list headed 2027 shows 55 euros on weekdays and 70 on public holidays, and next to the club there is a four-star Golf Hotel with 34 rooms.
