The Ca' degli Ulivi course: 18 hilly holes above Garda
The Championship is a hilly course on slightly undulating terrain, designed by the English firm Cotton Pennink & Partners: par 72 and 6,059 metres. The club explains that the arrangement of holes and tees makes it challenging for experienced players but enjoyable for beginners too.
The landscape changes from hole to hole. From many points the view takes in Lake Garda at 180 degrees, while on others the backdrop is Monte Baldo. The layout winds over 90 hectares straddling the municipalities of Garda and Costermano, among olive groves and small stretches of water.
The Mirabello is the second course: nine executive holes, par 32, for a total of 1,764 metres. It is the choice for a quick round or for getting to know the course before tackling the 18 holes.
Playing Ca' degli Ulivi as a guest
The price list published on the website, with no year indicated, sets the green fee for the Championship at 60 euros on weekdays and 75 on weekends and holidays; the Mirabello costs 30 euros during the week and 40 at weekends. To access the Championship a playing handicap of 36 is compulsory. A nine-hole round on the Championship is allowed only from 4 pm between April and October and from 2 pm from November to March.
The electric golf cart costs 40 euros, the manual trolley 5 and the electric one 15. Rental bags cost 40 euros (Taylor Made Qi10) or 50 (Qi4D and the Kalea women's model). The practice range has 15 open and 10 covered bays, with a putting green and an approach green. Closing day and opening period are not given online: it is best to call 045 6279030.
The club: clubhouse, restaurant and services
The clubhouse is intimate, with a terrace, and includes a bar with stube, changing rooms, a well-stocked pro shop and the Ca' degli Ulivi restaurant, which the club describes as renowned for its cooking. For those who want to unwind after the round there are an outdoor swimming pool and sauna; on the course there is also a buvette for a refreshment halfway round.
The club also offers e-bike rental (Cube and Giant) to explore the hills around the lake, and has professional instructors for lessons.
