Hotel Madrigale

Golf Club Ca' degli Ulivi sits, in the hotel's words, "a few steps" from the Madrigale and is listed at 0 km. The 18-hole course winds through olive groves and ponds: some holes look straight onto Lake Garda, while the east-facing positions open onto Monte Baldo. The club has a Golf Academy with driving range, putting green and approach green, golf cart and trolley rental, bag storage and a club house with terrace, restaurant, bar, swimming pool, sauna and pro shop.

The hotel offers three packages with green fees included, valid on weekdays: Passion for Golf (3 nights, 2 green fees, one at Ca' degli Ulivi and one at Golf Club Verona), Golf Week (7 nights, 3 green fees, two at Ca' degli Ulivi and one in Verona) and Golf & MADness (7 nights, 3 green fees, MAD Spa entry and a 50-minute massage). All include a tee-time booking service and bag storage. According to the hotel, guests also get special conditions at other courses: tee times are requested by e-mail at [email protected], stating day, time and course.

The hotel's welcome is signed by the Tondini family, and the hotel describes itself as 4-star superior. It stands in Marciaga, in the municipality of Costermano sul Garda, in a landscape where, the hotel says, alpine influences meet a Mediterranean character.

Rooms come in three collections: Exclusive, Glamour and Essential. The lake-view Exclusive suites are named after local places: the Sirmione Spa Suite measures about 47 m² plus a 10 m² balcony, the Garda Relax Suite about 45 m² plus 19 m², and the Panorama Prestige Suite about 40 m². The Essential collection includes the Classic Family Suite.

There are two pools, both heated, with lake views: the sky pool on the terrace, where you sip a drink with your feet in the water, and the infinity pool in the terraced garden, with canopy beds that follow the shape of the hill.

The Private Spa offers a bio sauna, Turkish bath, experiential showers, whirlpool tub, ice waterfall and a relaxation area overlooking the lake. It is booked in two formats: the afternoon Glamour session, up to 90 minutes (25 euros per person, according to the hotel), and the evening Exclusive session for two, lasting two hours with prosecco and finger food (95 euros per person, booked together with the room). The wellness areas are reserved for adults.

The lake-facing Bellavista restaurant serves a four-course dinner with a choice of dishes, paired with local wines; the day starts with a generous breakfast buffet. In the warm season, from May to September, the Pool Bistrot La Terrazza brings salads, snacks and light dishes to the poolside, with the Garda view.

The motorway exit is Affi-Lago di Garda Sud, 10 km from the hotel. Verona-Villafranca airport is 30 km away and Brescia-Montichiari 60 km; the railway stations are Peschiera del Garda (17 km) and Verona Porta Nuova (30 km). Cancellation is free up to 7 days before arrival, with the 30% deposit refunded.

• One hotel, three room collections. Exclusive, Glamour and Essential are conceived, says the hotel, as three different worlds under one roof.
• A spa for two. The Exclusive Private Spa session admits just two people at a time, in the evening.
• An ice waterfall. It is part of the Private Spa circuit, next to the Turkish bath and bio sauna.
• Golf almost all year. According to the hotel, the mild Garda climate allows play for most of the year.
