The Golf Club Lanzo course: 9 holes at 1,000 metres on the Pian delle Noci

The Lanzo course has 9 holes and winds, as the club puts it, through the woods and clearings of the Pian delle Noci, with views opening onto the valley and the surrounding mountains. The design is by Donald Harradine and dates from 1962. The altitude is 1,000 metres above sea level.

The competition data declared on the website are those for a round from the men's yellow tees, with course rating 68.8 and slope 132, and from the women's red tees, with course rating 70.1 and slope 123. The club does not publish par or overall length, which is why we do not give them here; on the website the individual holes are illustrated with pictures.

The club describes its setting with a formula: at Golf Lanzo tranquillity reigns, with a relaxed atmosphere along the gentle slopes of the Pian delle Noci.

Playing the Golf Club Lanzo as a guest

Tee times are booked online from the Book now page of the club's website, or by phoning the secretary's office on +39 031 839060. The website does not publish a green fee list, a minimum handicap, or the opening calendar and closing day: these are details to ask the club directly before setting out.

One uncommon rule deserves a note: at Golf Club Lanzo you can play with your own dog, in compliance with the rules published on the website. The pro shop sells clothing, shoes and equipment from the main brands, with Golf Lanzo branded products, and offers a fitting service (changing shafts, grips, lie and loft) and replacement of shoe spikes.

The club: clubhouse, history and services

The history of the club is intertwined, the members say, with that of a splendid valley, from the Romanesque of the Comacine Masters to the Art Nouveau of the early twentieth-century villas. The first fifty years are recounted by Guido Astesani: the idea came from friendly families who had gathered in Lanzo for the summer holidays for years, and his father, though no great golfer, believed in the project of building a golf club together with the others from the start.

The recently renovated clubhouse is designed for a stop after nine holes, an afternoon of bridge or a dinner of typical local dishes; the large terrace lets you lunch outdoors looking over the course. The practice range has 6 covered bays under a wooden roof and 8 open-air, with a putting green and practice bunker; the teacher Vincenzo Damonte gives introductory lessons and advanced courses for those who already have a handicap. Sporting activity includes annual competitions and Lady, junior and seniors sections. The club has received the Silver Star for Sporting Merit.
