Not a single cubic metre of earth was moved to build the course at I Girasoli: so says the club itself. The 18 holes, par 71, follow the natural undulations of the Roero hills at Carmagnola, and the fairways are all natural grass. The course opened in 1992.

The I Girasoli Golf Club course: 18 holes in the Roero hills
The club says it built the course without any earthmoving at all, following the undulations of the Roero hills. The shaping of the holes was entrusted to Piero Bruno. The result is an 18-hole, par 71 layout with five par 5s and par 4s that stretch to 400 metres.
All the fairways are natural and the rough uses local grasses; according to the club, only the bare minimum of essential products is used on the greens, and no toxic pesticides. Water comes into play on several holes.
The 1st hole, a par 5 called “La Pista”, starts from a tee surrounded by daisies. The 7th, another par 5, has two greens: the championship one is surrounded by water, while the alternative is meant for beginners. Between the 13th and 14th the course runs alongside a vineyard.

A golf cart for outside players costs 45 euros, a hand trolley 5 euros. Entry to the practice range costs 10 euros, with twenty bays, some of them covered.
The website carries an undated notice: every Wednesday the course opens at 2:30 pm. The closing day and the required handicap are not stated; it is best to phone the club office on 011 9795088.
The club: restaurant, agriturismo and history
The course opened in 1992 and was extended in 1996. The restaurant arrived in 1994, serving zero-mileage Piedmontese cooking, with local meats and vegetables from the property's organic garden; the wine list, of Piedmontese wines and others from different regions, is described by the club as its pride and joy. The restaurant is open to non-golfers as well.
In 1999 the Agriturismo La Margherita opened, with rooms on site, renovated between 2014 and 2022. The club also has a swimming pool, an events space, a youth club, a match play championship and corporate offerings, from team building to footgolf.
