On the Cherasco course the lakes are home to large grass carp and tortoises, which according to the club help keep the bottoms clean. The course, an 18-hole par 72 parkland at the confluence of the Tanaro and Stura, is played with the hills of the Langhe on one side and Monviso in the background.

The Golf Club Cherasco course: 18 holes at the confluence of the Tanaro and Stura
The course is a parkland on two levels of elevation, built where the Tanaro meets the Stura. The soil is alluvial and drains quickly, so, the club explains, play stays regular even when it rains. More than 1,500 mature trees, mostly oaks and pines, line the fairways and surround the greens; among roe deer, herons, ducks and cormorants, buzzards keep watch over the game from above. Lakes and watercourses come into play on nine holes.
Adding up the distances from the longest markers shown on the hole sheets gives about 5,990 metres for a par 72, with four par 3s (2, 5, 11 and 15) and four par 5s (6, 9, 16 and 18). Hole 4, a 391-metre par 4, is the hardest by handicap: the tee shot has to be threaded between large trees. For the club, though, the 13th is the most characteristic: a 383-metre downhill par 4 with the green beyond a lake, which calls for a good drive in order to attack with a mid-iron.
The 9th, a 521-metre par 5, is the longest, with a short rise 100 metres from the green that hides its defences; the 15th, a 200-metre par 3, is the longest short hole. The 17th is a par 4 of only 266 metres, but a small green, two pines and a lake make the approach delicate. The finish is a par 5 on two uphill levels, with a lake on the right and a narrow green that cannot be seen from the fairway.
Playing at Golf Club Cherasco as a guest
The club publishes a price list for non-members, but the latest one online is from 2025: it is best to confirm the figures before setting off. In that list, the 18-hole green fee for players not registered with the Federation was 65 euros on weekdays in low season (January, February and December) and 80 euros from March to November; at weekends, Saturday included, 90 and 100 euros. Those holding an FIG card paid 55 and 65 euros on weekdays, 75 and 85 at weekends and holidays. For nine holes the range was 40 to 55 euros on weekdays and 60 to 70 at weekends and holidays.
The golf car cost 55 euros for 18 holes and 35 for nine, the electric trolley 15 euros and the manual one 5.
The club is closed on Tuesdays that are not public holidays. The office is open from 8:30 am to 5:30 pm and can be reached on 0172 489772; the website does not state the handicap required, but shows the status of the course and golf cars on its home page.
The club: clubhouse, pool and Soffietti Golf Academy
The clubhouse brings together the office, changing rooms for members and guests, pro shop, caddie master, lounge, bar and a restaurant with a veranda. The kitchen, run by Massimiliano and Donatella Montese after thirty years in Piedmontese clubs, focuses on produce from the Granda, the Cuneo area: tajarin, cheeses from the Val Maira, snails and Granda beef.
The pool, 25 by 12.5 metres, sits in a fenced area of 2,500 square metres with a solarium and a lawn shaded by maples; it is open from June to early September, from noon to 7 pm every day except Tuesday. There are also a gym and, for practice, a driving range with six covered bays, a chipping area, a practice bunker and an 18-hole putting green.
The Soffietti Golf Academy, led by the teacher Stefano Soffietti, runs the lessons.
