Facts checked on 18/10/2026

In 1965, before the club even existed, more than ten thousand firs, larches and beeches were planted in Asiago beside the woodland already standing there: the course grew up inside that forest. Today Golf Club Asiago is an 18-hole, par 71 layout on the Sette Comuni Plateau, named best mountain course in 2015 by the monthly il Mondo del Golf.

The Golf Club Asiago course: 18 holes among firs and larches

The story of the layout begins in 1961, when, on the suggestion of a Wagon Lits employee, the municipality of Asiago commissioned the English firm Harris & Cotton to design a golf course. The club was founded in 1967 by thirty members, and for years play was over nine holes. The turning point came in 1990, under the presidency of Franco Gemmo: Peter Harradine, an architect of international standing, was called in to redesign the course and extend it to 18 holes.

Today the course is a par 71, built on a gently contoured plateau where the changes in elevation are modest and the woods frame almost every hole: the club says that a round, which can be walked, takes between four and a half and five hours. The vegetation has a precise date: in 1965, more than ten thousand trees (firs, larches and beeches) were planted beside the great forest already there.

The layout has been touched up recently. In the winter of 2022 the water-collection basin at the 13th hole and the tee complexes were rebuilt; in the winter of 2024 it was the turn of the 18th hole, where a new basin was created, and the order of the second nine was changed.

Playing Golf Club Asiago as a guest

The club welcomes outside players, with tee times booked subject to availability: you can phone the office, send an email or use the Chronogolf online system. A valid handicap is normally required; beginners can still use the practice range, putting green and approach area, while the office helps anyone who wishes to join the Italian Golf Federation.

The 2026 price list distinguishes two seasons. Until 14 June and from 14 September the green fee for 18 holes is 70 euros (40 for nine); from 15 June to 13 September it rises to 110 euros (70 for nine). Juniors pay 50 and 60 euros for 18 holes, members of non-Italian clubs 100 and 140, and groups of more than ten players get a 20% discount on the full price.

All year round you can hire golf carts (60 euros for 18 holes, 35 for nine; the club has 30), electric trolleys (30 and 20 euros), bags (25 and 15) and manual trolleys at 5 euros. Dress must respect golf etiquette, with unsuitable sportswear not permitted. The club gives the typical season as late April to late October, weather permitting; the weekly closing day is not published.

The club: Golf Academy, restaurant and tournaments

The club has more than seven hundred members and has been chaired by Irene Gemmo since 2010; the golf manager is Luca Forte, the head pro Giulia Franchini, the greenkeeper Alessandro Bertolini. The Golf Academy runs individual and group lessons for children, teenagers and adults, and for anyone who wants a first taste of the game there is the GOLFPOP Card: 20 euros, one lesson included, valid until the end of the following year.

The practice range sits alongside a putting green and an approach area; it does not need to be booked except on competition days or at busy times. The Longalaita restaurant and bar, linked to the club, is open to non-players too, subject to hours and availability; it also organises corporate and private events.

In 2015 the club received two awards: best mountain course from the selection committee of il Mondo del Golf and an environmental recognition for its landscape from the Italian Golf Federation.

Curiosities about Golf Club Asiago

  • Ten thousand trees in 1965. Firs, larches and beeches were planted two years before the club was founded.
  • From nine to eighteen. The club began with nine holes and had to wait until 1990 and Peter Harradine for the full round.
  • A new second nine. In the winter of 2024 the order of holes 10 to 18 was changed, after the basin at the 18th hole was built.
