Since 2006 Bogogno has been the only Italian venue for the first stage of the European tour's Qualifying School: anyone chasing a tour card passes through here. The resort offers 36 holes designed by Robert Von Hagge and opened in 1997, two courses identical in par but opposite in character: the Conte, links-style, and the Bonora, parkland.

The courses at Bogogno Golf Resort: Conte and Bonora, 36 holes by Von Hagge
The design is by Robert Von Hagge, with Mike Smelek and Rick Baril: conceived in 1990, work began in 1994, opened in 1997. In his presentation of the course, Von Hagge explains that hazards should be read not as obstacles but as visual messages, signposts that suggest the tactics for each hole.
The Conte is a par 72 reminiscent of a links course: wide open spaces, flat stretches, sizeable lakes and wild rough, with the summit of Monte Rosa as a backdrop. It measures 6,485 metres from the professional tees. The professional record belongs to Anton Haig, 64 in 2005; among amateurs Alessandro Nardini shot 63 in 2021.
The Bonora, also a par 72, has a livelier parkland layout across a broad hilly area with streams and woods still intact, typical of the Ticino Park; the professional tees are at 6,488 metres. Here the professional record is Marcello Santi, 69 in 2000, and among amateurs Francesco Molinari, 66 in 2002. The resort maintains the courses with eighteen greenkeepers and in 2011 won the award for best course maintenance in Italy from il Mondo del Golf.
Playing at Bogogno Golf Resort as a guest
The 2026 price list distinguishes two seasons, with an 18-hole green fee valid on both courses. In high season (April, May, June, September and October) it costs €115 on weekdays and €135 at weekends and on holidays; in low season (March, July, August and November) €90 and €110. Rates may vary during competitions and events.
For hire there is a Club Car golf buggy at €55, a Jucad electric trolley at €25, a manual one at €8 and a Callaway set of clubs at €50, with a V.I.P. Rental service that renews the equipment every six months.
The office is open 7:30 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. Monday to Friday and 7:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. at weekends and on holidays: the number is 0322 864137. The website does not state a required handicap or a closing day. The Lake Maggiore district, of which Bogogno is part, reports courses open all year except January.
The club: Q-School, academy and clubhouse
Since 2006 Bogogno has hosted the first stage of the Qualifying School of the European tour (now the DP World Tour), the only one in Italy; in 2017 it staged the Vagliano Trophy, the contest between the women's selections of Great Britain and Ireland and of Continental Europe, and the Junior Vagliano Trophy. The resort was named best new course of 1998, has been on the Rolex World's Top 1000 list since 2010 and in Golf Today's Italian Top Ten since 2016.
The Bogogno Golf Academy has been running since 2001, with coaches including Fabian Barrio, Carlo Zaretti, Andrea and Federico Ferrario and Simone Truchet, and offers analysis with FlightScope and K-Vest. There is also a Callaway Fitting Centre for custom fitting.
The driving range has 25 grass tees in the main area and as many in the secondary one, 12 on mats and 8 covered, with unlimited balls; the short-game area covers 900 sq m and the putting green has 36 holes across 1,200 sq m. The resort also includes a hotel, a spa and a restaurant-bistro; among its competitions is the Trofeo Bella, which the club presents as far removed from the stereotype of the classic tournament.
