On the 6th hole of the Golf Club San Giovanni dei Boschi the village bell tower suggests the line of play, and on the 9th the old Cascina Fantasia, the former clubhouse, forms the backdrop to the second shot. The course at Golf Club San Giovanni dei Boschi: nine holes among oaks and small lakes

The course is a nine-hole par 36 of 2,866 metres, which played twice becomes a par 72 of 5,732 metres. It lies at about 400 metres above sea level, on a wooded plateau between Ivrea and Castellamonte; the outline of the Bella Dormiente mountains, which resemble a reclining woman, frames the woods and opens the view to the Verzel (2,444 metres) and Quinzeina (2,344) peaks. The club describes it as suitable for every kind of player, with varied slopes, fairways among woods and small lakes, and fast, undulating greens.

The holes have natural landmarks. On the 2nd, an uphill par 3, the large oak beyond the green helps to find the centre; on the 3rd, a par 4, the approach to the green is guarded by a water hazard. At the 4th, a par 5, the tee is raised above a small lake and a majestic oak a hundred metres from the green shows where to place the second shot. The 5th, a par 5 with a double dogleg, has a lake 130 metres from the green.

On the 6th the bell tower of San Giovanni dei Boschi marks the line and the second shot reveals a small lake to the left of the green; the 7th is the longest par 4; the 8th is a par 3 with raised tees; the 9th is a short par 4 with a dogleg to the left, where a wild willow marks the landing area for the drive.

The club: clubhouse, school and competitions

The clubhouse is open to everyone: you can have a coffee with the newspaper, an aperitif or try the kitchen's specialities, and upstairs there are meeting rooms and a reading room. The club has changing rooms, showers, lockers, bag storage and a pro shop, and a practice area for the long game and the short game.

The school is run by the professional Alberto Campanile, a former tour player, who uses Trackman 4 to analyse the long and short game: a lesson costs 60 euros for an hour and 30 for half an hour. The competition calendar includes the Prosecco Golf Cup, which in 2024 reached its eighteenth edition, and the stages of the Lions Charity Golf Championship.
