The Golf Club Il Mulino Cerrione course: nine holes among woods and streams
The course measures 2,610 metres, is a par 36 with double tees and includes two par 5s of over 500 metres. It covers 30 hectares between the Bessa special nature reserve, an area rich in history and woodland, and the Olobbia stream. According to the club, players often see wildlife, which is used to human presence.
The first hazard is a monument: in the middle of hole 1 stand the ruins of the old 17th-century mill. There are few bunkers, because the design relies on natural hazards, woods among them. Hole 9 is the one the club calls spectacular, with a lake to carry from the tee. For beginners the course offers easier options, alternatives to the more daring shots to be attempted later on.
The fairways are creeping bentgrass, which forms dense turf on which the ball sits up on the surface; the roughs are fescue and perennial ryegrass, around the age-old woods. The greens are large, 600 square metres on average, built to the USGA Texas method, with layers of sand from the coarsest to the finest and a network of drainage pipes.

The club: organic maintenance and sustainability
Since January 2018 the course has been looked after by Matteo Sacco, a superintendent trained at the national golf school in Rome, with organic management free of herbicides and fungicides. The club states that no glyphosate, fungicides, insecticides or herbicides are used, and aims to have the grass withstand insect attacks and disease on its own.
The company, Golf Club Il Mulino Cerrione, lists corporate social responsibility and sport among young people among its values. The park is continually improved with new planted areas and flowering beds.
