At Montebelluna every hole has two numbers. The 1st is also the 10th, the 3rd the 12th, the 9th the 18th: the club has numbered its nine holes as a full round, and anyone wanting 18 holes plays the loop twice. The course lies on the slopes of the Montelletto, among chestnuts, beeches and ditches that cut across the fairways.

The Golf Club Montebelluna course: nine holes between the Montello and the Montelletto
The course stretches across the slopes of the Montelletto, among the hills of the Montello, over about 30 hectares of greenery. It is a nine-hole par 36, and the club stresses that it can be played even in the rain; according to the course’s presentation material, the ground is that of the ancient bed of the Piave.
The layout is made of ditches rather than lakes, and it is the ditches that dictate strategy. The 3rd hole, a par 5, is cut in two by a ditch and has a kidney-shaped green on top of the hill, guarded by two bunkers; to the left runs a row of tall chestnuts and beeches. The 6th hole is a long par 5 with a dog-leg to the right, a ditch down the right side and out of bounds just beyond: even the longest hitters struggle to reach the green in two. At the 2nd hole the par 3 calls for a wood or a long iron, with bunkers on both sides of the green; the 8th, another par 3, has a shallow green beside the out of bounds marked by an irrigation canal.
The club describes it as suitable for all levels: the opening shots leave room for error, but the undulating, stepped greens demand attention, especially when the pin is at the back.
