Golf in Umbria

In Umbria, golf is played inside history. At Antognolla, in Perugia, beneath a 12th-century castle and above a Benedictine crypt, Robert Trent Jones laid out 18 holes on a 500-hectare estate.
At Corciano, the Golf Club Perugia, founded in 1959 by Mario Spagnoli, has a clubhouse in a 1921 lime kiln with two large chimneys. On Lake Trasimeno, at Panicale, Ferruccio Lamborghini opened a nine-hole course in 1991 to bring golf to local people.
