The course at Casalunga Golf Club: lakes, tree-lined rows and a temporary 8th hole
The course lies in a protected green area of lakes, tree-lined rows and meadows, in the Emilian countryside a few minutes from Bologna. The club describes the holes as “particularly delicate” and the layout as comfortable and pleasant, to the point of calling it “walkable”. The listing from the Bologna Welcome tourist board gives a nine-hole, par 36 course of 3,010 metres around a lake; it is an undated listing, written before the floods, and the club’s website does not publish the current par and length, so it is best to ask at the secretary’s office.
The three floods of 2023/24 forced the club into a major restoration effort, supported by members, the board and the company Dream Spa. The course is now again valid for official competitions thanks to a brand-new 8th hole: still a par 5, but with a dogleg left onto the green of the 1st executive hole. According to the club, the return to the original layout is planned during 2026.
The environment is part of the game: the lakes are home to geese and ducks, water turtles, kingfishers and, in some seasons, herons and moorhens. The club asks players to stay on the fairways, avoid the reed beds, keep dogs on a lead and photograph without flash.

The golf cart costs 30 euros for 9 holes and 40 for 18, a pull trolley 5, a rental bag 25. A bucket of balls at the driving range costs 2.50 euros; the practice-area green fee, including the executive holes, is 20 euros.

The club: clubhouse, pool and school
The clubhouse has a lounge with a television and sound system and a large outdoor terrace; salads, snacks and simple dishes are served. The club also has an outdoor swimming pool and a gym with lockers, open every day.
For those who have never played, Casalunga offers a two-month trial period: unlimited free access to the practice area and putting green, and free rental of equipment and balls for lessons, to be arranged with the instructors Adriano Ciancarelli and Marco Monforti Ferrario. The latter was a professional on the Alps Tour, wore the national professional team shirt and has worked solely as a teacher since 2021. At the end of the trial you can join one of the membership options.
