The Argenta Golf Club course: 18 holes along the Delta embankments
The club lies halfway between Ferrara and Ravenna, about forty minutes from the sea and from Bologna, in an area surrounded by the Po Delta Park and close to the Valle Santa nature area. The course was designed in 1991 by Giovanni Trasforini and follows the lie of the land and the river embankments.
Its layout is unusually regular: par 72, made up of six par 4s, six par 5s and six par 3s, with a total length of 6,300 metres. Among the features of the course the club cites water hazards, low dunes with scrub, groves of native species and elevated tees, and it describes the layout as technical and varied, with small, well-defended greens whose slopes are sometimes hard to read.
The mature planting has framed the Emilia-Romagna regional championships and major junior and professional tournaments. In 2012, after a change of ownership, the club received fresh investment and a series of improvements.
Playing at Argenta Golf Club as a guest
The club is open all year and closes on Mondays that are not public holidays. The rates page publishes no prices and refers visitors to the secretariat: green fees, handicap requirements and bookings are arranged by calling 0532 852545 or writing to [email protected].
Services include golf carts and club and trolley rental, useful for anyone arriving without equipment. The club is at via Poderi 2/A, just outside Argenta: leaving the A13 motorway at Ferrara Sud, take the SS16 Adriatica towards Ravenna and follow the signs for Argenta, about one kilometre before the town.
The club: practice area, school and restaurant
The practice area includes a driving range, pitching green, putting green and practice bunker. The golf school is run by the professionals Claudio Ferrari, instructor, and Carlo Guaraldi, playing professional; the course is looked after by superintendent Michela Mazzanti. The club has a pro shop, changing rooms, parking and a defibrillator.
The restaurant and bar are open all year, except on the days the golf course is closed, and are open to the public too: it is therefore possible to have lunch at the club without playing. The restaurant's contact details are published on the website next to those of the secretariat.
