Serravalle Golf Club

The course was designed by Fulvio Bani and Franco Ziliani and opened for play in the spring of 2006. It stretches over twelve hills, at 260 metres above sea level, among the Gavi vineyards, ancient woods and two small lakes. The main course has 9 holes, par 36, 2,910 metres long; the club describes it as a par 36 of highly technical character.

Since 2012 the course has had an addition: three executive holes, par 5, 3 and 4, for 1,026 metres in all, useful for practising the short game. There is also a nine-hole footgolf course. The website invites visitors to phone for information on access to the course.

On Mondays that are not public holidays the club is closed; according to the club's website and that of the Serravalle hotel, daily opening runs from April (or from May) to October. The only green fee list published on the website gives 2016 rates, so it cannot be used: for current prices you have to call the office on +39 0143 62065 or write to [email protected].

On the course you can hire golf carts, an electric trolley and a pull trolley, and you must be of age to drive a cart. The driving range and putting green are available to players, together with an approach area.

The club stands on the Tenuta La Bollina, once the summer residence of the Figari marquises of Genoa, now owned by the Praga Group. The operating company is Serravalle Golf ssd. The head pro is Nuccio Giordano, teaching for over thirty years, who besides technical lessons offers integrated coaching with experts in functional movement.

The area is that of Serravalle Scrivia, the Roman Libarna (2nd century BC) at the confluence of the Scrivia and Borbera; the 10th-century castle passed to the Spinola family of Genoa. The landscape is dominated by the Gavi vineyards; the club also mentions walks, trekking and mountain biking.
