The Rivieragolf course: 18 holes in the Conca wildlife sanctuary

The main course is an 18-hole par 70 designed by the architect Luigi Rota Caremoli together with Graham Cook. The club explains that the project set out to preserve the natural features of the terrain: some holes follow the original morphology, while others are conceived “in the American style”, long and with wide fairways and greens. The layout stands in the wildlife area of the Conca, a protected natural area of Romagna.

The variety of tees allows the same course to be played at different levels, from professional to beginner, and the club insists precisely on this diversity of playing choices. The website does not publish the overall length, the course rating or the individual holes, so they are not given here.

Alongside the big course is the nine-hole executive, par 27 and 1,692 metres, suited to quick rounds and to practising the short game. Every year it hosts the San Marino International Pitch & Putt Open, with participants from all over Europe and tees dedicated to the competition.

Playing at Rivieragolf as a guest

Tee times are booked online through the GES Golf system linked to the website, or at the office on 0541 955009. The club is closed on Mondays.

The course page publishes a price list for guests: 80 euros for 18 holes in high season, from April to September, 70 euros in low season, from October to March; nine holes cost 50 and 40 euros, the executive 25 euros, the range 10 euros. The page does not state the year of validity, so these are prices to confirm at the office. The club also accepts dogs, under specific rules published on the website, and has a nine-hole FootGolf course, with a fee of 20 euros.

The website does not state a minimum handicap.

The club: academy, tennis, spa and restaurant

Rivieragolf is a sports resort more than a simple course. The Golf Academy offers individual, group and family lessons, while the Tennis Academy has qualified instructors and international coaches. The club provides a spa and swimming pool and a Golf Restaurant, and organises events for members and guests.

The practice area includes a range with 12 covered bays, a bunker area with a chipping green and an 18-hole putting green.

On the competitive side, the club championship is played in foursome, scratch and handicap formats, and the club has hosted the 38th International Women's Senior Amateur Championship.
