At the 8th hole of Golf Club Monteveglio the par 3 measures 99 metres: the shortest tee shot on a course that, in the club's words, «leaves no margin for error» even for experienced players. Designed by Fulvio Bani, the par-32 nine-holer winds through the Bologna hills and the Monteveglio Abbey Regional Park, and is floodlit for evening play.

The Golf Club Monteveglio course: nine technical holes
The course is a par-32 nine-holer designed by Fulvio Bani, an architect known, the club says, for his creativity. It measures 2,013 metres from the men's (yellow) tees and 1,731 from the women's (red) tees, with a course rating of 63.4 and a slope of 114 for men. Five par 4s and four par 3s alternate across narrow, undulating fairways, never too steeply sloped, bordered by lakes, out of bounds and a vegetation of oaks, cypresses and hornbeams; the greens are fast and full of slopes, defended by bunkers and water hazards.
The longest hole is the 6th, a 348-metre par 4; the shortest is the 8th, a par 3 of 99 metres, followed by the 7th, at 111. The club is keen to stress how a «small» course can trouble even the «biggest» golfers.
Playing Golf Club Monteveglio as a guest
The website publishes the 2027 membership fees, but no green fee list for guests: to play as a non-member, it is best to phone the secretary's office on 051 0216717. The club also warns that from 1 February 2027 only people with a paid-up membership will be admitted. Those who already belong to another club can join as a second-course member (400 euros for 2027, FIG card not included).
The secretary's office is closed on Mondays that are not public holidays; in summer it is open Tuesday to Friday from 9:30 am to 7 pm and at weekends from 8 am to 7 pm, in winter until 5 pm. For lessons the contact is Luca Cianchetti, a PGAI instructor at the Giovanni Dassù Academy.
The club: floodlit practice ground and clubhouse
The club describes itself as a full-size course of «recent construction». The driving range has 18 artificial-turf bays, 6 of them covered, plus three practice areas with grass hitting bays, two practice bunkers, a pitching green and a putting green. The entire facility is floodlit for evening play.
The secretary's office, in glass and steel, was designed to reduce visual impact: from the windows one sees the hills and the Monteveglio Abbey Regional Park. Outside, in the warmer months, there is a relaxation area on a wooden mezzanine with tables and parasols. There are also changing rooms, a kinder corner and a large illuminated car park. Luca Cianchetti runs the Youth Club.
