The Golf Terre di Canossa course: 18 holes along the Quaresimo stream

The historic Reggio Emilia course opened in 1987 to a design by the architect Marco Croze and is now called Golf Terre di Canossa: 18 holes, par 72, 6,210 metres, on gently rolling terrain. The managing group describes it as a varied and enjoyable layout whose variety of design lets players use every club in the bag: it tests the experienced golfer hard, yet it is also fun for those taking their first steps.

What sets the course apart is water. The winding Quaresimo stream affects six holes, and glimpses of lush vegetation open up all around. The course is five minutes from the centre of Reggio Emilia, not far from the A1 motorway exit and the high-speed rail station.

The club holds the title of PGAI Golf Destination, like the other courses in the group, and for the 2025 season it announced it would host the National Professional Pairs Championship, the Seniors & Ladies championship and the National Women's Under-18 Match Play Championship.

Playing Golf Terre di Canossa as a guest

Guests are welcome every day, but booking is required and a handicap certificate from the player's home club is needed. Play is with soft spikes, dogs are allowed on a lead and mobile phones are permitted on the course. The club observes a closing day on non-holiday Tuesdays.

Opening hours change with the season: 9 am–5 pm in January, February, November and December, 9 am–6 pm in March and October, 9 am–8 pm from April to September. The 2026 green fees are published on the “Tariffe e abbonamenti” (rates and memberships) page of the Emilia Golf Experience group's website, with different prices for weekdays and holidays, for the seasons and for members of the group's clubs; we do not quote figures here because the table covers several courses. Golf carts and trolleys can be hired on site.

The club: clubhouse, restaurant and practice area

Since 23 October 2024 the operating company has been Golf Terre di Canossa S.S.D. a r.l., the last of the three to join the Emilia Golf Experience group; until 2024 the club was known as Matilde Golf. In Reggio Emilia the group also runs a 9-hole course, Reggio Golf, par 29, opened in 2011, at a separate facility.

For practice there is a driving range with 18 bays, 5 of them covered, a putting green, a pitching green, a chipping green and a practice bunker. The pro shop, at the entrance to the clubhouse, is run by Golf Elite, with equipment and clothing, regripping and fitting sessions by appointment. The bar and restaurant serve traditional and international cuisine, and the meeting room holds more than 100 people.
