The restaurant at Villa Las Tronas has no meat on the menu: only the catch of the day, garden produce and traditional recipes reinterpreted. For a hotel facing the Gulf of Alghero since 1959 that is a fitting choice, on a promontory where the Sant'Elia family's castle-style villa reaches out over the water. Golf is not among the hotel's services: the clubs are out in the territory.

Golf near Villa Las Tronas: Florinas, in north-west Sardinia
Villa Las Tronas has no golf course and golf is not among the hotel's services. Golfers travelling with a bag will still find a club in the area: Florinas Golf, at Florinas, which calls itself «the golf course of north-west Sardinia».
The club, founded in 2014, offers two layouts on the same grounds: a 9-hole par-30 course, described as the longer and more technical one, and a par-27 pitch & putt designed for quick play. A single green fee covers both and can be booked online; the club also has a practice area and lessons with federal instructors.
Florinas also stands on principle: the club says it uses no pesticides, consumes about 25% of the water of conventional farming and covers about 60% of its energy needs with solar panels, reusing existing farm buildings.

Villa Las Tronas Hotel & Spa: Alghero's castle-style villa
The villa belonged to the Piedmontese Arborio Mella di Sant'Elia family and was sold in 1959 to become a hotel. The building follows the medieval castle model popular for 19th- and 20th-century villas and stately homes, with pointed-arch windows and the classic turret. A two-storey addition has since changed its volume and appearance.
Today the 24 rooms and suites differ in size, colours and furnishings: from a 13 m² single to a 60 m² superior suite with a terrace and a Jacuzzi for four, with sea-view suites with hydromassage in between. The hotel says it has kept the original furnishings, which preserve the villa's character. There is a centuries-old park around it, and from the hotel you reach the sea, with private piers for boat trips.
Among the services, according to the hotel, are free parking, car rental, boat excursions, guided tours of Alghero and a helicopter landing pad. Pets are welcome at no extra charge.
The Villa Las Tronas restaurant: fish and vegetables by the sea
The restaurant serves Sardinian cuisine with a clear stance: no meat, only the catch of the day, garden produce and traditional recipes reinterpreted with a contemporary touch. You eat in the villa's historic rooms or at outdoor tables right by the sea, on the promontory.
For an aperitif there is the indoor bar, with wines.
Spa and seawater pool at Villa Las Tronas
Outside there is a seawater pool overlooking the Gulf of Alghero, with a sun terrace, open seasonally. The spa has a second pool, indoor and heated, with a sauna, steam room, relaxation area and gym. The hotel presents it under the Latin motto «Salus per aquam».
Face and body treatments use Comfort Zone products, and the programme runs from 60-120 minute water journeys to the 180-minute Signature Spa Journey with massage. The spa is open to outside guests by booking. Access for guests under 16 is generally not permitted, except under specific conditions and always with an adult.
