Golf in the Val d'Ayas began in 1999 with a simple driving range at Periasc, set up by Davide Merlet to introduce the sport to the valley. Today, at the foot of Monte Rosa, it is a 9-hole pitch & putt along the Evançon torrent, among the pines of the Villy valley, built partly thanks to contributions from golfers, residents and hoteliers.

The Golf Val d'Ayas course: 9-hole pitch & putt along the Evançon
The course is a regulation 9-hole pitch & putt, laid out along the Evançon torrent in the Villy valley and surrounded by pinewoods. It is also certified by the Italian Golf Federation as a 6-green executive: played in this format it offers, the club says, longer and more varied holes.
The pitch & putt format, with short shots and greens to attack with irons and wedges, makes it suitable for beginners and for anyone who wants to work on the short game on holiday. The club describes itself as at the foot of the Monte Rosa glacier, in a peaceful setting. Par and the lengths of individual holes are not published.
Playing Golf Val d'Ayas as a guest
The 2026 price list sets a daily green fee of 20 euros in June, July, September and October and 25 euros in August; a six-entry package costs between 100 and 110 euros depending on the period. Residents of Aosta Valley pay reduced rates. Those who only want to practise on the driving range pay 10 euros a day.

The club: from the 1999 driving range to an association
The story is told by the club itself: in 1999 Davide Merlet opened a driving range at Periasc; in 2009 Jean-David Merlet added three par 3 holes; in 2012 the A.S.D. Golf Val d'Ayas was founded, to develop further holes along the river. The holes multiplied thanks to the collaboration of golfers, residents and hoteliers of the valley, who financed the new greens.
Today the club organises competitions during the summer and welcomes both experienced players and beginners, in the setting of a mountain holiday.
